On the coupe I gained almost 40 HP with headers and a Callaway intake. The A/F ratio was spot on as the comp. does do some compensating. I'm sure you can get more seat of your pants feeling after a tune as lots of the torque management is removed and more untamed HP is available to be used sooner. However, I doubt that more than maybe an increase of 5 ponies can be obtained form a tune. I'm not knocking tunes or tuners just my non expert opinion.
With all due respect to your comments, the tune is the basis for power.
Without a tune, headers, cold air intake, cam, etc, are just about useless.

Reason: spelling
no, no, and no !!! first headers will make it hotter, under hood, and may melt something, which may make it, not covered under warranty... all the tests i have seen hardly get any more power ,doing this unless ,you do a lot more mods, which will blow away the warranty.. everybody said learn to drive the car, look at ranger, lots of guys with mods, can not run as fast as him.. re-sale with hurt with any mods... rkvette
I've ran headers on all my cars, never melted anything, unless it touches it.
Even my plug wire boots that are 1 mm away from my headers on my 600+hp BBC don't melt...so I doubt anything else can melt unless they are "on" the header. I've burned my knuckles more than once though
Headers will void your warranty, even if your dealer tells you it won't. If you have a major failure the OM, I mean GM reps will make the decision, and they are getting pretty close to voiding warranty claims if you don't run the stock Goodyears.
That being said, they will still warranty other things that aren't related to the drivetrain (faulty switch replacements, etc.).
If I were to do headers I would expect it to void the warranty. If you find a dealer that will let it fly then thats a bonus!!!
But I would say you can figure it will void it!
It all depends on YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR DEALER. My 05' coupe, with every bolt-on imaginable, (see SIG below) got it's clutch replaced under warranty TWICE past 36k miles.
Sure you can run headers with no Tune, but that makes no sens, even economically speaking, why spend 1500 bucks and not take full advantage with a tune. I know my C6 with just headers, there wasn't much difference. Then I started tuning it, a little timing here, a little fuel here, a little less there and wow! that woke her up.
From what I've seen on here, looks like a Z06+header and no tune is a complete waste of time and money.
^ +1. Same deal here. I added Kooks headers and my times were exactly the same with no tune added. Once I did tuning for them, I cut my ET down by .25. Got rid of the CEL's as well.
its a roll of the dice as it depends on the dealer. Im pretty sure you can restore tunes if you ever had to take it back for warranty repair. Just make sure you save an original copy before you start changing parms.
On a C6 Z06, headers and tune alone don't really do too much. The car already comes with a pretty decent set of manifolds ( or do they count as headers? ). Most people just do a vararam, catback, and tune to get a decent gain.
Also, its very true what a previous poster said about most people not being able to drive well enough to handle even the stock power to its full potential.
I'm getting Opposing answers to the ? of weather installing Headers voids the New vehicle warranty in full ,in part or not at all.
Headers can void your power train warranty. Depends on the dealer. So the real question is do you trust your dealer?
Side question, why are you adding headers? Just like the sound or you want more bang for your buck? There are a lot of posts here that give the pros and cons of headers (with and without a tune).
Bottom line, if the warranty is important to you, leave it stock and error on the side of caution.
Actually, based on the amendment of the warranty, a cat back and a CAI could void your warranty too.
Moral of the story: with Gov Motors heading in its present direction, you are better off leaving the car alone and buy something older to mod.
I can't wait for the day that GM will void your warranty because we decide to run aftermarket rims and/or different tires than the originals.
GM's direction on this issue probably started with the Diesel trucks, that were coming in with a window in the block from running 30+psi tunes or transmission's falling out. They wised up with them and applied that same theory to the rest of the fleet. I've known a couple guys that could make 750ftlb with just a tune on their trucks...if only our tune could increase our torque by 150% lol

If that ever happened this would be my last GM vehicle for sure
