He has another thread about fixing the floors. I am betting he will fix the minor damage and move on. Would be a shame to salvage the car for this, like you said, most of them have some damage from either a stupid driver running over something, or some moron trying to put a floor jack under the floorpan.
yes the floor is cracked pretty good and daylight can be seen in several areas. Used a camera phone thats why pictures dont look so good.
about a 8 inch crack is in the fiberglass right near the rocker panel. I haven't pulled the metal shield to look under it yet. the damage a combination of crushed and crack fiberglass extends about 10 inches in from the door sill area.
another member I have bought from before has offered me a large piece for a patch panel if needed.
It's just everything about this car that finally got to me. After I pulled the drivers side hush panel under the dash I was blessed with another suprise. The remains of a clifford alarm system that looks like a monkey wired it all in. Thats a whole mess of wires in itself, I truly would have been better of fixing up my 82 vette then this thing. But like I said early on in this project it was a great buy regardless and if its a drivetrain & suspension donor so be it. I'm sure my 82 would be nice with that stuff from this car.
Wow yours sounds just like mine. I was looking at some wires hanging all over under the dash this past weekend from a previous alarm. They cut wires, spliced in crap, same with the radio. No sense getting a kit when you can cut up the wiring harness in a Corvette just as easily.
Good luck with it man. I see a few neglected vettes in my travels I always wanna pick up and fix. Once you get one you just want more. Wish I had the room and the cash.

So is floor damage the kiss of death for these cars? I have some in both foot wells on my project C4 that I was planning to repair.
Only if you want it to be. The floors are repairable. I think for Jeff, it was the last straw. When you take 2 steps back for every step forward it will get you down. A man can only take so much. My 2 cents, anyway.

And this is the main reason I will never buy a "fixer-upper" Vette. I'd rather spend time driving the car than rebuilding one. I don't want anything to sour my Vette ownership experience.
Anyone can take and buy a clean vette takes a man to bring one back. When it's done I can say I made it like this and got my enjoyment from my hard work that I put into it.
I'm a certified mechanic, I can bring one back also...I choose not to. With that said, to each his own. Enjoy!
