evap purge switch hoses
On a '97 there is an EVAP purge valve and a purge switch. If I am correct the purge valve is closest to the front of the engine and the switch is closest to the firewall, both on the driver side.
My question is about the switch (closest to the firewall) There is a rubber elbow coming off the switch that goes nowhere. Is this correct? Should it be plugged or plumbed to something? I don't see anywhere for it to go. Help!

I know what it is, and where it's located. I was hoping for a pic of the switch on the engine, so I could determine if the open elbow is to vent to atm, or it's supposed to be connected.

I am having an issue with this part as well. My 98 wouldn't start the other day and I smelled gas. During an inspection, I noticed that this part had 3 connections (1 electrical, 1 with the elbow and 1 with a round flanged piece) Mine had only the electrical connector attached. I was wondering where the other 2 ends of this wwere connected to. I looked everywhere for the missing hoses, but couldn't find anything. I see now that the elbow is a vent. Doesn' anyone know where the flanged/round connection connects to?

I read where this line goes to the evap canister near the fuel tank. I don't exactly understand how this sytem works. Is it possible that this line blew off of the switch when I tried to start the car? I do remember hearing something make a popping sound. Could there be enough pressure in the line to blow off the connection? I don't know where to start looking for the line. I have the fuel rail and intake manifold off of the engine and I cannot find any loose hoses. I guess it may have fallen down behind the engine. I will try to follow the line in from the evap canister.
