I'm generally new to this forum so let me say that I apologize for the absurdity of this post but I can't seem to find any other info on this subject.
I opted to do a wheel exchange for my chrome gumby wheels on my 09 coupe. I wanted a set of black powder coated wheels. Long story short I shipped the chrome gumby wheels back to the merchant whom I traded with and he sent me an email today stating that nowhere on the wheels could he find a GM stamp or marking and therefore he believed that I sent him "replica" wheels. I explained that they they came on the car from the dealer and he stated that the dealer may have put replicas on to save money. Anyone ever heard of such a thing? Anyone know if the GM gumby wheels do not have a stamp on them?

That's a tough one. Do you have pictures? (inside and out)

Check the glove box: Q9V Forged Chrome Alum cpe/conv $1850
QG7 Forged Polished Alum cpe/conv $1295
Now that doesn't mean the previous owner didn't change them, but that's what would have been shipped with the car. I also believe that the wheels do have a part number on them. Hope this helps and let us know how you made out.
There IS such a thing as OE chrome gumby wheels, but I'm not sure they're all marked on the inside. It wouldn't be out of the question for a dealer to save some money by using replicas.
Let's see what others say re markings on the "barrels" (insides) of the wheels.
They may come from the same country but that doesn't mean they are the same quality. GM wheels are a strong forged construction and I'd bet you dollars to doughnuts that the repros are cast and weaker.
My 09 chrome factory gumgy wheels had NOTHING GM on them. I would not doubt GM and repros all come frome the same place now. Taiwan
This is what I thought I'd read before on a thread that there was no marking some of the true, OEM chrome gumbys.

Figures! Here's the reply I got from the merchant today. Thanks guys for your interest.
" After washing and stripping the paint of the barrel part of the wheel we were able to see the GM marking we were looking for so we are fine. We work with a shop that works with Chevrolet dealers and they sell replica wheel to them all the time so that is why we believe we got replica wheels after not finding the marking but they were cover under the dirt and paint. We will be refunding your core deposit later today so it should post in the next 48 to 72 hours. "

Glad it worked out for you. If you get a chance, I'm curious to see if the code was in the glove box. If not, don't worry about it. I have a 2007 and had the part number for the painted silver wheels so I knew that wouldn't do you any good.
