Buying my "new" c6 tomorrow morning
Going to look at and most likely buy a 2005 c6 Victory red tomorrow morning. Give me a few tips on what to look for while inspecting the car and test driving it. It is a 6spd.
Thanks
I love this forum!

raycer,
Congratulations!
I think you would like to track this car and enjoy it. I say this based on reading your previous posts.

I strongly urge you to inspect the 2005 model year rear end you are buying. Also please do a little research on this forum on 2005 rear end. You might find something to consider...

Just make sure everything works, just like you would on any other car. Any history on the car would be great also...any upgrades, mods, etc. I have had no problems with my 05 and 63k miles. Good luck and post pics when you get it.

Make sure fuel gage works ... spend a few bucks, save later expense, fill it up with gas.
Check on this forum for VIN's with early builds having loose crank pully.
Check all position on the horn button to make sure no dead spots.
Check the underside to make sure the rockers are not cracked and the
"supposed" skid bars do not have broken welds.
On clod start make several sharp turns (figure 8's even better)and see if posi clutch plates are sticking.
Listen for column lock cyl. to move freely.
Push the rear trunk black button and see if it releases the trunk.
Have Chev. dealer pull up Warr. repair record.
None of which cannot be fixed, just need to find 'em before you have to pay to fix 'em.. do it on the dealer's dime.

look it over closely, rubber in wheel wells, noise in drive line; differential, if manual trans be aware of how the trans feels as you go through the gears; feel the syncros.
Good luck!!

Probably won't be racing at the track with this thing. Just cruising and occasional bad behavior!

Think with your head and not with your emotions! $30K might even buy a newer model; 06-07? And talk them down! Good luck!

There are a couple of forum members and vendors who have offered to do free GM Background checks as long as you have the VIN. I did that a couple months ago when I purchased my 06. It was great as I found out the car had recall work done and a complete service record. I also found out all the accessories the car had and that was helpful because price was higher than I expected
Best wishes tomorrow.

congratz. ill probably be selling my VR 06 z51 A6 for that price
your first mod... this is a MUST.. splash guards for front and rear fenders or claybar will be your new best friend.
look for paint mis-matches, tire condition, TMPS sensors all working (there are buttons of the right side of the steering wheel (i believe you hit options 4 times and it says on the DIC)
and lastly, enjoy =D

A few others:
Make sure that the roof has been replaced on the recall. The original will fail over time, and may even peel off at speed.
Make sure that the car has had the BCM software upgrade to prevent DBS. Very important to prevent dead batteries with '05 MN6's.
Crank pulley failure can happen with VIN's before 11039.
Turn signal or DRL failure is not uncommon because of wire harness defects.
Look for rock chip damage to the front edge of the rear quarter panels. A common early defect with doors that didn't close flush.
Have the sway bar and passenger side rear axle bolt checked. Commonly loose.
Have the battery checked.

As you can tell, the '05 has some 'first year' gremlins.
My $.02 is be patient and don't limit your search to local vehicles, and get something newer if you can.
There are great deals to be had from some very reliable Forum Vendors and that first drive back home will be memorable.
Good Luck.
