Thanks for the assist Bill, sorry for the do-over on the 79lb lift. I posted on the Edelbrock forum on that part interference issue we found. They claim they know about it and I was told that directions to clearance that part are in the latest version of the instructions. I just downloaded the latest version...ain't in there! Edelbrock says it is the 2008 year only that has this clearance issue.

Great Job! Ready to do a Z06?

I lived in Cres-tucky up until a few months ago, but we had to move to Keesler...still close enough though

Great job Ken! Thanks for all the info.

One question for you, can you get the battery out with everything in place?

You would think that for the money the kit costs they would provide clearanced parts.

Probably not. But how often would you be taking the battery out? I think all you'd need to do is loosen the two 10mm nuts that hold the s/c coolant reservoir and pull it out of the way. There is only so much real estate under that hood!

As of today Edelbrock has updated the install directions to cover the 2008 interference issue. Step #153 reads....

"NOTE: On 2008 model year vehicles, remove the water
passage block-off located at the rear of the driver side
cylinder head. Grind a 1/4” of material off the inside
corner of the block-off at a 45° angle, then reinstall it
This will allow it to clear the supercharger."

That should save some future installers a load of grief.

ok, Ken, I couldn't stand it....had to change my avatar and it is now the background on my laptop.

thanks for an awesome job. Can't wait to drive the car.
I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning. My ears are already sore 'cause the corners of my mouth are hitting them from smiling all the time.

I've already told Dave (the owner) this but I'd like to share with everyone my impressions of how his car drives. As a reminder, the car is a 2008 Z51 MZ6 convertible and is 100% stock....except for the mouse nest I found under the hood. I took the car for a 60 mile circuit yesterday morning. The purpose was primarily to be confident the car is 100% ready for the owner. He lives 250 miles away and I wanted to give back a car with absolutely no chance of a "do-over". The ride included some in town driving, a bit of 55-65mph in traffic, one 100% throttle squirt up the on ramp onto the interstate and 15 miles on the interstate at 75mph followed by another short ride through town. Folks, I gotta say this is the stealthiest supercharged car I have ever driven! With the NPP's closed, this car gives away no hint of it's abilities. The car started as-stock on a cool 45 degree morning and settled into a stock like 650rpm idle. At idle, with the a/c off, radio off and NPP closed, you can faintly hear the rotors turning through the cowl from the driver's seat. You have to listen very closely to hear it though. Standing outside the car with the engine running and the hood closed it is very hard to hear the supercharger. Pop the hood and you can hear the twin rotors stirring the pot in the supercharger...a sound that is a bit hard to describe. Around town the car has loads of torque and only a very faint blower whine when you accelerate...at least until the NPP's open and then it's all bets off to hear the supercharger. The torque of the Edelbrock makes short-shifting this car a blast. Power comes on very linear and the blower sound to me is much like a large electric motor ramping up to speed. This car demonstrated 100% stock like drive-ability in town. The interstate on ramp....from 0 mph to the top of the ramp as I merged pushed me over 100mph. I had to slow down to merge! Car returned right at 25mpg at 75mph. Off the interstate and back into town and the car behaved 100% as stock. This is all with the Edelbrock hand held tuner calibration. 100% drive-ability. Dave has given up absolutely nothing with respect to stock manners and gained a boatload of power with the upgrade.

I am confident this is the type of upgrade Dave was looking for and that he will be satisfied with the results.

I bet Dave WILL be happy. Question for someone having done a couple of installs. Assume an apprentice motorhead available to help with the heavy work. How long will it take you on future installs? For me, the second time I tackle a big project takes half as long as the first.

Two Edelbrocks and four or five A&A centris...losing track. I kind of like to work solo and I told Dave I needed his car thru two full weekends. The way I prefer to work is to put 3-4 hours in over each weekend day and then walk away to take care of personal business. Thoughout the week (I still have a full time 40 hour job) I tinker with it a bit and then wrap it up on the next weekend. So, to answer your question, I think conservatively I have 20 hours in this install....maybe a bit more and most of it working solo. If I had a second guy with the same experience level as I have we could probably knock it out in 12 hours but that schedule starts to turn my hobby into a job if you know what I mean.

Having worked with Ken on 4 centris (mine included) and two E-Force assists I can tell you without hesitation that you will not find a more meticulous person to work on your car. He was a huge factor with his HP Tuner skills getting my Vortech and my A6 trans dialed in to as near perfect as you can get for a street only driven car.

On a side note his help has been priceless on my restoration project 82 Vette.

I am extremely lucky to have Ken as my neighbour.

Thanks for the words Bill...you didn't tell everyone though that the 82' suspension work mostly required my 4lb hammer and acetylene torch skills!...old school wrenching at it's best!

It got the job done and that's really what matters. Might be wheels down tomorrow. Let me know how big Dave's grin is when he gets his car back tomorrow.
