Default window does not goes all the way up, not the indexing

Took the Vette out today as the weather was nice and clear. Has been stored with the windows down.

So I get it out of the garage, and the drivers window does not go all the way up, leaves a least 1/2 inch and stops. Indexing does nothing, pulling on the window as it goes up does nothing either.

Could it be some sensor going bad? Like the sensor is saying the window is all the way up when in fact it isn't? Where might this sensor be?

I did a search and only found info pertaining to indexing, and like I said, that does not seem to be the issue here...

Just for grins, have you tried the re-indexing procedure?

I would suggest reindexing several times up and down to see if it gradually changes. You can index it in the down position also, so indexing up is not the only option. Keep at it til it is set correctly.

K, tried that just now...nothing, still 1 inch short from closing. Window even makes that "clunk" sound as though it's all the way up, but 1 inch short.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes - I know it's a pain to lose other memory presets but it might be worth a shot..

Just to cover the obvious......you are doing all this "indexing" with the door closed, yes?

No presets lost other than window indexing and possibly the clock.

Thanks Jack, going out to the garage to try that now.

And yes, door closed when indexing, I've done it many times and know the procedure.

It really must be something else that I'm missing, not sure but will report back shortly after the battery dis/re connect.

This happened to me a few times. I just disconnect the battery for a moment then reindex the windows.

OK, disconnecting the battery did nothing, still leaves an inch open, does not close fully...I'm out of ideas now

The only other thing I've seen is this recent thread. Kind of similar to your issue. If you want to skip ahead, the fix (dealer) is in post 14:

Thanks, here is that info...

I took the car to the dealership today and the service tech found a loose connector on the DDM. He re-seated the connector and all appears to be functioning correctly now. Everything else checked out okay...

This doesn't appear to be a common problem, but I figured I'd post the solution in case anyone else experiences a similar issue.

I wonder if this may be the cause of my issue, it's a bit different but along the same lines

I disconnected the battery a second time, this time I left it disconnected for 30 mins, as opposed to just a few minutes that I did the first time.

Seems to have done the trick, window went all the way up. Indexed it as well.

This forum rocks! Where else could one gain all this knowledge/info...most folks would be shelling out dollars to dealers un-necessarily....

Well, OP still needs to keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks to see if the fix is permanent. Sure hope so.

It could be one of the door ajar switches that is going bad or not contacting closed. I believe it is a 2 position switch connected to the latch. When im working on my car I usually close the latch on the body and leave the door open. when you do this you can see the window will go up farther because it thinks its inside the weatherstrip and the door is closed. maybe you can swap latches or switches with the other side to rule it out.I assume you notgetting any dash indications of door ajar or open ?

Last year my car started having a problem with the window not returning from the index position. It was the sign of worse things to come where the door wouldn't open at all and the window would oscillate between closed and the upper index position. Sometimes it would do it a couple of times and other times it oscillated for 5 or 10 minutes. Dealer replaced DDM and all problems went away.
