Default 275's on Stock Rims - Anybody have pics?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of BFG 275/60 15's for the rear of my 80, but my concern is that they will look "balloonish" because they are so much wider than the rim. Anyone have any experience with this setup or better yet Pics? I know I could go aftermarket rims but I just love the rally wheels!!

Thanks!

I was considering 275 40 17 but from what I have reserched it is very close to rubing the T-arm posibley too close. yes they will bulge out a bit more than the average person would like. Man thats a lot of contact surface.

Best pic I have. 275-60-R15 on rear, 205-70-R15 on front. The car is a '74.

Thanks for the pic, I appreciate it! Did you have offset TA's or did you just relocate the parking brake bracket? Did the tires stick out beyond the fender well?

Agreed, a lot of tire for a stock 350.... No more power braking!

I just purchased 255/45/17 for my 75.

There is less than 3/8 of an inch difference between the 255's and the 275's.

These are BFG 275/60/15 drag radials. Stock trailing arms with parking brake cable bracket relocated.

If you like the look of rally wheels, but want better selection of modern tires, you could always go with something like this 18x8 inch rally wheel:

Here is the link to Summit:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WV...4042/?rtype=10

It is not cheap. They also have 17 inch versions which are a little more reasonable. I wish I would have found them before I bought my Coys.

Edit: here is a pic borrowed from chevelles.com of a fella with a bad *** 69 camaro with these on it.

I tried a set on the rear, they fit but the edge of the tread-patch was pretty much aligned with the edge of the fender so the bulge was out farther than I liked. Wouldn't actually hit I don't believe so functionally it should have been fine

I've got repositioned e-brake brackets (was running 245's and they would hit when cornering, ruined a set of tires that way) so there was no clearance problems there.
Certainly looks substantial from the back, a lot of meat there.

I was matching the 275's with a set of 235's on the front for the same height (28") and the rear did appear slightly "ballooned" especial with the white-letter out, made them look shorter than the front

Ended up with 235's all around

Perfect, thanks to all who replied. Based on what I see / hear I'm just going to go with the 255/60/15's all around. Can't stomach $2,700 for the sweet looking rims on that Camaro right now as a bad power steering control valve has turned into a "while i'm in there" body off resto... What am I thinking! I'm sure I'll find a billion things to throw money at as it is.

Take care all!

Take a look at the SLP line of wheels.

I purchased the 5 spoke 17" wheels that are made for C3's.

If you are just looking for the look with the 275's, then just save your money using the OEM rims. If you want true performance, then you need to go to 17's. I went with the SLP's 17 inch rims that fit the C3 with zero modifications. I run 255/45/17 ZR's which are incredibly superior to any of the 15's in terms of handling, steering response and yes they ride MUCH better than the crap 15 inch balloon tires!

I guess I have some more noodling to do here..... Anyone else spend hours searching the web for the perfect set-up, make a decision then right before pulling the trigger take "one last forum search" just to be sure, and end up reading something that makes you start all over?!?!

Thanks for the help guys!

Goodyear 275/60 15" on stock C2 Kelsey Hayes 8.5" true knockoffs. OEM trailing arms. But the E-brake cables rubbed so I pulled them away slightly with springs.
