Default Oil life monitor reset-question

Just did my first oil change by myself.(Thanks to the DIY) No problems encountered. Went to reset my oil life monitor and it only resets to 99%. I did it several times but still only resets to 99%. I did a search on the forum and it seems this is common with a lot of C6's. I tried with the engine off in assy mode and with engine on to no avail. Also with timer off and on. Not a big deal but was wondering if anybody here has encountered the same and/or if there is something I'm missing. This is an '08' Z. Thanks.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think that happens when you reset the monitor with the engine running. Try holding the ignition button in down position for a few seconds until the ignition turns on without engine running then try reset again.

I'm pretty sure 99% is "close enough"...

Just drive around for a while, and when it goes to 98%, hit the reset button again........

Reset mine with engine off and it was 100%. Started the car to check filter and it went to 99%. No big deal.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I'll write this one off as 99% being normal, mabey a software glitch of some type. Does not warrant overhauling the electrical system. Thanks again.

Conspiracy between GM and big oil. They are trying to shave 1% on every oil change so they can sell more oil.

If you want to set it to 100%, press the start button WITHOUT holding down the clutch. Car will not start but DIC will light up like it does when the car is running. Then depress the accelerator 3 times. Then press the bottom of the start button to turn the DIC off. Your oil life will be at 100%.

You can reset any GM vehicle with an oil life monitor that way. Been using that method in my Avalanche for years. I always reset my Z that way too.
