Default Base C5 GM Susp Upgrade - C6 Z51 Sway Bars - C6 Z06 Shocks - www.gmpartshouse.com

Greetings Friends,

2012 C6 Z51 Sway Bars!

We have the Z51 sway bars with the FREE upgrade from OEM to poly bushings for $208.17. The poly bushings are an extra $35 that we throw in for free when you purchase our Z51 sway bar kit. You have to purchase the C6 Z51 sway bar kit for $208.17 to get the poly bushings! We don’t just sell any poly bushings as we sell the poly bushings from PFADT racing here on the forum.

The reason people use these bars most on the C5’s and the C6’s is because unless you’re running 335 width tires in the rear, these are the way to go. These bars don’t cause the vehicle to ride “stiffer” per se. They are mostly for the cornering ability.

You know that feeling when you’re going into the turn and the car leans pretty heavily? These bars are meant to make the vehicle feel flatter in the turns and corner much better in the turns. Another advantage is the handling when you’re coming out of the turn. When you come out of the turns you will not be fighting the wheel as much as you would with the stock bars. These bars, since they’re thicker, make it easier all the way through the turns.

Below are the specifications and comparisons of the C6 Z51 sway bars compared to other Corvette suspension packages.

Corvette Sway Bar Specifications

Suspension Front (mm) Rear(mm)

C5 base 23.0 19.1
C5Z51 (97-99) 25.4 21.7
C5Z51 (00-04) 28.6 23.6
C5Z06 30.0 23.6
C6 base 25.5 17.5
C6Z51 31.0 25.4
C6Z06 31.0 28.0

We offer these sway bars with the 2012 C6 Z06 shocks. Also, whether it is a C5 or C6, coupled with the 2012 C6 Z06 shocks it makes a total different handling package. This package speaks for itself as we have many testimonials from many customers from whom we sold these to here on the forum!

To order, please call 484-949-2099 or go to www.gmpartshouse.com and use part number c6z51bars and be sure to select Chevrolet make.

Thanks. Gene.

10339124 – Rear stabilizer bar

Free upgrade to PFADT Poly Bushings!

Complete kit front and rear is $208.17
Use part number c6z51bars on our website under Chevrolet make.

For a limited time we’re offering a free upgrade from OEM to poly bushings with the sway bar kit purchase of $208.17.

2012 C6 Z06 Shocks!

We sell the 2012 C6 Z06 shocks for $254.60. Many C5 customers ask us why we don’t recommend the 2004 shocks over the 2012. Many people also say that the C6 shocks are only developed for the C6. If you look at all of the basic suspension components between the C5 and C6, they are very much the same. The reason we don’t recommend the 2004 Z06 shocks over the 2012 C6 Z06 shocks is simply because of the price and customer feedback. We have many customers who have tried both sets of shocks and cannot tell the difference between the two, so why not purchase the lesser expensive set!

For the C5, not C5 Z06, we also recommend the C6 Z51 sway bar kit. The C6 Z51 sway bar kit coupled with the 2012 C6 Z06 shocks is our most popular suspension and handling upgrade for the C5.

To order, please call 484-949-2099 or go to www.gmpartshouse.com/search.php and use part number c6z06shocks and be sure to select Chevrolet make.

Thanks. Gene.

There are some discussions of this scenario on the forum. You'll have to do a search for them and check it out.

It is a direct bolt on. On some of the earlier model C5's they had plastic end links. You would need to replace them if they are plastic. If they aren't plastic and they don't make any noise, I would not replace them. For the Z06, I do not recommend these sway bars. They aren't that much larger than the C5 Z06. I would go with something like PFADT for that vehicle. We do sell those as well.

Hello, so if get c5 ZO6 shocks (4) for my 1999 with (slc) selective ride control, WILL the ride control at the center console still work, or is there a special 'shock' that the 1999 non zo6 uses for this?

One thing to keep in mind about sway bars is that while traveling in a straight line they will have relatively minimal effect on the ride quality of the car. They only have an effect on wheel rates while the car is either cornering, or one wheel is reacting to the road surface while the other wheel isn't. The word stiffness mostly refers to the balance of the car and the effect the bars will have on the car while cornering.

We offer multiple different sway bar different options. Our Johnny O'Connell package is going to work the best for an otherwise stock C5 or C6, and works even better when paired with the Johnny O'Connell shocks! We developed the Johnny O'Connell Stage 1 package specifically for daily driving and occasional track day use in mind. The shocks and sway bars work best when paired together, but will also work great if used separately. The Johnny O'Connell sway bar package is also adjustable in the rear to help you maintain the proper balance if you change wheels or tire compounds.

Next next available option would be our Heavy Duty - Light Rate sway bars. They use our Light Weight 3 piece bar construction, and feature both a front and rear adjustable sway bar. These bars are best used for street, track use with street tires, or occasional track use with race tires. They are lighter than the Johnny O'Connell bars, and provide more adjustability to fine tune the car on track.

The last option is the Heavy Duty - Heavy Rate sway bars. This bar package was designed to have a lot of flexibility in mind as far as the rates go, but are best used for cars that see a good amount of track time. With the amount of grip that a race tire generates you want quite a bit of roll stiffness to keep the vehicle from rolling over too far while cornering hard, and that's what we built these bars for. Adjustable both front and rear, if your car sees track duty we recommend the Heavy Rate bars.

Here is a rate comparison chart that may help you make a decision. Notice that most of our sway bar packages have stiffer front bars than rear bars. We do that to help establish a more neutral handling balance, and make the Corvette easier to drive whether on the street or track. If you have any questions please feel free to either call us or GM Parts House!

The ride control will not work. You'll still need the correct shocks for that.

Thank you for the response!!

I'm debating to either go with heavy duty or light heavy. I'll be using LG G2 coilovers for this car and I plan on doing some circuit this summer.
