Just bought my electric bLUE Zo6 last week and I'm loving it. The car is bone stock not couting a K&N. what modifications would you guys suggest- I dont think I'll ever supercharge it, but just basic Bolt-ons. I just want to make sure the products I purchase are quality and fit nicely..Thanks again fellas
If money is ok. I would start off with a set of long tube headers,x-pipe. You can reuse your stock TI exhaust. Get a good intake. Cams are very nice and add HP. New heads or upgrade yours. Under drive pulley. Seat time is the best mod you can get and does not cost anything but time. That is just my 2 cents

Congrats on yur new to you Z.Theres nothing like it. As far a mods I went with a Blackwing, power duct, and i modifed the radiator shroud for cold air to make the more efficient. I got the parts used, modiifed my shroud myself, and bought a used spare shroud in case I go back to stock. You can also buy a used Diablosport programmer for another 15-20 hp.No codes and I very happy with the results. MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE and this way may not be everyones choice. Also saved lots of cash. You could also do the zip-tie mod, and yu could find the DIY thread here on the forum. Find a used K&N panel filter and youve got a damn near free mod. Also like someone else said, X-pipe and headers, coated headers if possible, also used, were talking about cash here. Thats the route I took.

Cool thanks for the input and pics, it seems like everyone's runs the vararam air. How's everyone liking this? And for exhaust seems like borla or corsa is the way to go

Had a Vararam, liked it initially, but the build quality is crap. Would not fasten snuggly after I serviced the air filter for 1st time. I took it off and installed a black wing. For exhaust I am running TPIS longtube headers and a B&B PRT catback, car sounds incredible!
The blackwing should fit your C5Z just fine. You are just using the filter and coupler to the maf, correct?
Edit did 2000 have air pump? The filter may not have a provision for the air pump bung/hose, no real biggie though, you can probably press in a valve cover breather to air pump hose.

What are your objectives?? You have had the car one week. Why do you think you need more power?
Are you going to drag race or take it on the track? Different uses, different mods needed.
Are you capable of using all the power and handling capabilities the car has now? If not then I would suggest a good high performance driving course before you start screwing up the car with mods that are not well thought out to achieve your goals and complement each other.
An example. If you are into street racing where low end torque for more acceleration is wanted the wrong cam can improve overall HP but reduce low end torque. Not what you would want.
Think carefully about what you want and then start to get the mods that will achieve your goal.
Here's what I currently have, power-wise:
- cold air intake
- ported throttle body
- cam
- headers
If I could do it all over, I would skip the headers and cam and just install a 3.90 rearend. And instead of a name-brand aftermarket intake, I would just do the "flip tie" mod. The ending result would be much cheaper than the route I took, and it would probably be equally as fast while getting better fuel economy around town. Just something to think about.

....but there is no fun in that! Looking back though... I would have to probably agree with you
