Is the sequence number a serial number indicating the number of cars being built?
Is the sequence number a serial number indicating the number of cars being built?
Yes, with some caveats. The Premier Editions are numbered 00001-00500, but the digit before is either 3 or 5 depending on which edition it is. So, the last 6 digits are unique but the highest last 5 digits is not the total production. This also does not take into account the captured test fleet cars.

Thank you for all your informative posts. I love all the vette info. Where do you come across all these gems you produce?

A little more caveat: the 53's are 1-500, the 54's are 1-550.

Thank you for your kind comments. I've been researching Vette info since 1998. Probably spend too much time with Google looking for some obscure stuff, like the VIN decoder info, GM Paint Compatibility Guides, etc. Once I uncover these gems, I document them in a Word document and/or with bookmarks (I am also blessed with a pretty good memory). Some info is the collective knowledge of the forum and I just happen to keep track of the interesting stuff per the above methods.
Thank you for putting this data together, I did not do a lot of research on the C7. actually did not think I would get one, but when I saw the one I purchased. I had to have it, now I doing a lot reviewing what I do have.
I have 50000429 I've read the thread but I'm not sure what's up with mine. Any help would be appreciated.
Are you positive the 12th digit is a 0 (zero)? If so, I believe that means you have one of the captured test fleet cars. I assume this was bought used.

Yes it is a zero and yes I bought it used. Now I have more questions. Hmm I'll look up that captured test fleet deal. I did get a disclosure from G.M. that the motor was replaced which it now has 500 miles on. But, that's another story....
