Glove Compartment Won't Open - IMPORTANT Please read update!
It seems like there are two electronic latches, my right one appears to be unlatching but the one closer to the button will not. It started happening some time after I had valet mode on, so I tried resetting that with no effect. I may have too many things in my glove box and that could potentially have caused it.
Has anyone else had a problem with their glove box lid? Any suggestions on how to get in there by removing the side panel? How easy is that? I'm planning on taking it to the dealership if I can't get it to open.
If the electronic latch on the glove box is not releasing the glove box door, try the following:
Open the passanger side door
look on the right side of the glove box area now exposed by opening the passanger side door for a small (about 1 inch square) access patch
Pry open the access patch
Push a long rod (an 1/4 inch socket tool extension work well) into the access hole and push against the locking mechanism
The glove box door should pop open.... that's what that 'patch' and access point is designed for...

The glovebox latches are electric? I can't believe it.
Everything on this car is electric. Well, almost everything. The door latches, the hatch / trunk release, the dash cubby and glove box, the convertible top. Then there are all the seat adjustments, the sterring wheel adjustments, windows, mirrors....
About the only manual latches / releases I can think of are the targa top and the hood release.
First, thank you Al. That trick worked. I got my compartment open.
The not so good news...my Sig 9mm pistol is missing. I had brought it in to the dealership to have a rim replaced after my neighbor's nanny damaged it. I did have valet mode turned on. I keep guns in all my vehicles and plenty in my house, so no reason for me to inadvertently take it out.
If you examine the 2 latches, they are made of cheap plastic and are small. Knowing that the right latch can be disengaged in valet mode with an instrument, I'm willing to bet the left latch can be opened by simply yanking on the door. That is likely also the reason why my glove box lid no longer works properly.
Nothing I can do about it now, except notify the dealership and warn you folks not to leave stuff in the glove box...even in valet mode.

Any chance you have a 2015 and a pdr recording in valet mode automatically?

Yes and yes. The car has to be running though. It records front and inside noise. Hmm...you might be on to something. I'll go back and review for inside noises here in a bit.

I'm glad the auxiliary side access port did the trick getting into the glove box. Bummer about the missing artillery.

Yes, I am beginning to figure that out, but for what reason? When you look at the problems people are posting here, probably 90% are electrical related. I predict a lot of bald Corvette drivers a few years down the road as they tear their hair out trying to puzzle things out.

There are manual door and trunk releases also. Don't forget about them, as it cost one poor soul his life.

I still don't think the autopsy reports have been made public. It's still speculation until then.
Although, they are potentially life saving, so good to know. The trunk releases have been on every new car for decades. It's one of those things your children should be aware of. In case they get snatched.

It does make sense to have manual backups for electric systems. But the one place there really needs to be a manual backup, Chevy didn't provide one. That is, of course, the electric gas cap release. I think this is the only car I've seen with an electric gas door that didn't have a manual release inside the trunk / hatch area.
