I think "halo" was used just as a quick descriptive to get to the area of interest.

I am considering wrapping the white roof and white strip/halo between the roof and rear window full-width (no white edges).
Here is a stingray. You may need to black out more than you described.
I think this is flat black and a transparent top as well.
With the picture above you see both ways. Short spears look good also.
