Default RPI ZR1 splitter - Check yours please

I have installed the front splitter that is an "identical reproduction" accoding to the RPI website. Take a look at this photo. It curls under on the front edge about 12"'s each side of center. Does anyone else have this problem? I emailed and the response I received from Don at RPI was the owner did not see an issue. If you have on that is correct from RPI could you post a picture? I would like to prove to them that this is a defective part.

Thank you

I have seen their sideskirts do this...it wouldn't surprise me that the splitter would as well. Stuff is cheap.

If you could take a better picture a little farther away it would be easier to see what's going on.
Here's what mine looks like. RPI fiberglass with hydrocarbon.

Did yours have a 'made in Taiwan' sticker on the back of it?

I had a hard time figuring out what I was looking at. Do you have a picture just a bit farther back? I have one of rpi's on my GS and it fits fine. Actually, I am on my third one, all have fit just fine. I did have a problem after 6-12 months with side skirts. Took pictures & sent them in. They sent me a new pair.

What was the issue with the skirts? I just installed one a month ago (before the CF splitter debacle) and would like to know what to expect.

Thank you!

I have the skirts from RPI as well. Fit is perfect and they look great, IMO.

I had one just like yours. Sent them pictures and they said that because I primered it, it was no longer defective. Ended up eating that entire purchase. Should have know better when it would not lay flat on the ground.

The surface started raising up if a few places on both. I have had the replacements on for 3 years now with no problems.

You get what you pay for....You'd never see this type of quality from top notch vendors like Katech or LG that sell real proven cf aero. RPI stuff is very cheap...I'm not even sure its real laid cf or just a overlay over some plastic/fiberglass.?

Of course I read the whole thread and didn't see anywhere the OP or you said it was damaged in shipping. Just the opposite actually from the OP. Anyway, my post wasn't meant to bash you at all. It was just to prove to LFZ that any vendor can have a snaffoo once or twice and that doesn't make their product junk. I happen to have the RPI skirts and splitter, paid $200 less and the quality and fit is excellent.

Yes, my post #11 got deleted and I don't really understand why. If resolved feedback threads are not meant to be seen anymore why are they not deleted instead of just locked?

There was no final resolution listed in the thread. It was left up to the two parties to resolve it offline. At the time the thread was closed, the customer was insisting the problem with the part was the quality. The vendor was insisting it was something that happened in shipping. It would have been more appropriate if the situation could have been resolved between them in the thread.

This particular thread didn't resolve what the actual problem was.

You indeed got less quality aero....nothing wrong with it as you did pay cheaper. But it won't compare to the real cf aero proven in racing made from manufacturers who specialize in it.

Doesn't matter to me since I don't have a C6R and I don't race.

Well you are right about one thing, there is no comparison....in PRICE. But as you said, you get what you pay for. In my case, both of my wifes C6's got RPI ZR1 front splitters, side skirts and rear spoiler and the only problem we have had with them was wondering what to spend the $1000 we saved...........but thank you, I will tell her not to do 180 MPH on the way home from soccer.

not related to the spoiler but I have had a lot of problems from RPI recently. Wrong products being shipped to me, parts that came in damaged. I try to stay away from RPI designs. I'd rather spend more money and get it from another store. just my 2 cents
