I'm not, at present I'm using the OEM c5 batwing oil pan setup with a 3qt accusump!

I'll keep an eye out for you! I'll be there although might not have the z06 ready in time for round one. A friend I met at gridlife last year had a yellow c5z as well it'll be cool to see more out this year!

I wish I was taking my yellow c5z out this year, but looks like it will be e36 M3 for me this time

Man, sorry to hear about the motor, I hope you can get it sorted out.

Well it's been a little while since my last update. the first event of the year for the car starts tomorrow morning! We just managed to get the engine in and down to Lingenfelter yesterday for a tune.

The changes made were:
Swap GT19 camshaft for GT11 camshaft
Bump compression from 10.1:1 to 11.5:1
Switch XS Power catted headers for Kooks headers, 3" catless x-pipe
Switch Stock Ti Exhaust for LG Big 3" exhaust.
Switch Stock Radiator for Dewitts Radiator with EOC.

The previous engine combo dyno'd at 487whp and 461wtq on Lingenfelters Mustang dyno.

The new combo made 520whp and 517wtq.

I was honestly pretty shocked by this, I expected to lose power switching to a smaller cam but it seems the rest of the changes helped the car breath enough to overcome, and the torque curve is way fatter!

I'm hoping to show some photos of all the small tweaks made to the car during this install but for now the dyno graph will have to suffice.

Not sure if missed it or not, bot what are your specs on the F14's? Like you were doing, im running TSW 18x10.5 with 275/315 stone/bfg but I want to go to the 18x11/12 combo. Your thoughts on how the 315/335 combo stacks up to the 275/315 combo?

The specs are:
18x11 et53
18x12 et59

The rears I am running without any fender liners although I believe trimming them would allow me to run them as well so I'll be doing that when I have time. The fronts I run unmodified.

Update from this weekend, went out for the first session of the weekend and took it fairly easy, ran about 5 seconds off my usual times but got a good feel for the car, coming off the track I was pretty pleased with the engine and the dewitts radiator.
Coolant temps about 220, Oil Temps at 275 and oil pressure idling down the pit lane was almost 30psi!

Shut the car off, swapped some pads/rotors and waited for session 2. Once the call to grid came I hopped in and fired up the car to let it warm up and the gauge read 10 psi...

WTF!?!??!!?

So my first thought since the car had good pressure coming off the track was that maybe the sensor had failed? so I opened the accusump which also showed 10psi and confirmed that I was indeed only seeing 10psi in the oil system.

Shut the car off and called Lingenfelter, they think perhaps the oil pressure relief valve is stuck open on the oil pump causing the issue. I was so frustrated that I put the car on the trailer and didn't look at it the rest of the weekend.

A friend let me turn some laps in his car so I still got a little seat time but overall a disappointing weekend. At this point I've had to replace or do major surgery on the engine after every event since last July and it's getting disheartening. If the oil pressure issue this time isn't just a "simple" oil pump issue or the like I may wash my hands of this build and go back to a simpler although less competitive setup.

I'd much rather turn laps than turn wrenches.

the only picture I have of the car during a last minute brake swap due to a leaky caliper:

Damn man, Sorry to hear about the issues. I really hope it's something simple and you can have some confidence restored in the car.

I was hoping to see you do well at some Optima events this year.

Me too!

looking back, the car hasn't run at 100% since the end of last July. I'd really like to turn a lap without keeping 1 eye on the gauges/DIC again but I guess that's just how these things go.

The field for OUSCI this year is already pretty stacked, I was really looking forward to competing but if I can't get a handful of events on a setup before COTA I won't be wasting the vacation/fuel/time to blow up on lap 1.

It's looking like there will be a large field of C5 and C6 Corvettes at OUSCI this year, especially after the podiums finishes at NCM last weekend. Rumpke, Paul Curley and Karl Dunn all got added to the list of invites. Once my wife gets her invite at PPIR next month it will add another to OUSCI

I really enjoyed reading through your thread. Sorry to hear about all your engine issues. Hope you get it back up and running on a robust setup soon.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, discouraged after having Lingenfelter rebuild the same engine 3 times within 3 races I gave up on the c5. I sold it to a friend who is building a different engine to put in and run at NASA events near MN.

My new car isn't quite as fast, but it's running so it has that distinct advantage

Ah, I'm a big BMW fan myself. Used to have an LS swapped E39. E46 M3, those seem to be the other go-to track weapon. I spy an intercooler hiding in there - any build thread?

No build thread yet although I'll be starting one over the winter.

Current specs:
2002 M3
ESStuning 550 supercharger kit
Dinan JRZ suspension
18x10 wheels with 255 Hoosier A7's (switching to 200tw for usca)
Carbon Hood/Trunk
Bimmerworld 5 speed conversion
Brembo big brake kits front/rear
Dinan 3.91 LSD

Over the winter I'm planning to increase power/weight ratio by removing some weight and gain a bit better handling:
Carbon CSL roof
MCS 2 way coilovers
18x10.5's with 285 re71's
lightweight battery
Custom 3.5" single exhaust
OMP seats
Roll Bar
Possibly some Bimmerworld Aero if the budget allows.

Thank you!

I'm glad this thread was still of some use to folks! The car still lives on, the new owner has made more upgrades and been tracking it a lot.

It has an even badder LS7 with drysump (that actually turns multiple laps between rebuilds unlike the horrible crap LPE puts out) and the full AJ Hartman aero package:
