Very common problem. Under the search this forum tab, type in stuck in park and you will find what you need to fix this problem.
Discussed many times here on the forum and lately as well. The solenoid operated Park position locking pawl is failing to rotate out of the lock position. Many threads here on how to disable it so it won't be a problem ever again. In the mean time, I would suggest you try this procedure for effectiveness: Start engine with foot on brake. Take foot off brake and do whatever you need to do for departure (check mirrors, release parking hand brake, etc). When ready, push forward on the shifter and while pushing forward, step on the brake. You will likely now be able to shift rearward out of Park into Reverse and elsewhere. This procedure worked for my 07 vert and also on my son's 08 coupe and could work for a long while.

Reminiscent of the "Airbag fault".....fixed 5 years ago, never corrected, after thousands of complaints, GM reimbursed this week....
I have a hammer in my car to pound the button. It's ridiculous
just waiting for this to start on my recently acquired 2005. Once again I am dumbfounded with all the problems these cars have. Coming from a C5 I was hoping it would be different but alas........

No need to be dumbfounded. This is simply GM saying..."We don't have to make it a quality car...people are gonna buy it anyway cause its a Corvette, and a lot of the poor quality won't show up for at least 2-3 years"....
