Hmmm...for less than $1200 you can get a COMPLETE 2016 FORD Mustang IRS set-up ....
Here's one for a C5/6
The problem is mostly that I have no idea what I'm talking about; I did a search and found a few for around $9,000 and didn't understand what was different.
That is freakin' COOL!!! VERY Cool.
How much HP is that set up made to handle. Of course you could go up to 40 spine etc-I'm referring to the bracket's, mounting points, geometry etc.
Those upper gussets look like catalog order roll bar gussets to me-are those designed to take the constant stress of a high hp set up? Very cool set up I'm not bashing just the technical side of me.

What you are looking at here is a prototype installation of a 9" Ford based IRS for the C2/C3 Corvettes from Ridetech. It is currently being used in the Ridetech 48 Hour Corvette. We have several autocross amd roadcourse event on this setup now are are well pleased with the performance.
This system was originally designed to address the durability and availability issues with the oem style C2/C3 rearends. We worked with Currie to develop the 9"Ford based IRS housing and stub axles, and then created the rest of the system to allow seamless installation into these cars. The stregth and reliability of the 9" Ford rearend has been well documented over the years. After running this system all summer, we have seen NO signs of wear from ANY of the components. For those of you who have to keep several oem style C2/C3 rearends in rotation to avoid downtime, this will be quite an advantage.
Ridetech will be offering this package as an upgrade to the current Corvette suspension systems. Pricing has not been determined. It will not be cheap, but it will be a good value. This sustem should be available by october 2016. It will be made available with or without the gearset/posi unit.
About the gussets...you are correct. Catalog items just for easy prototype purposes. Although we've seen no signs of stress, expect the production versions to look more robust.
Horsepower capability? Dont know yet...the 48 Hour Corvette makes 649 HP and has intense forward and lateral bite. We've already been in contact with several drag racers who want to use this system with 8 second cars.
It will be interesting to see where the price falls. If it is on par with a Ramadei or Mike Dyer 12 bolt or Super 10, it could get very popular. If it's substantially more (I'm thinking it will be) I'd assume a limited market.

Fantastic!
Do you have any pictures of this new set up installed in a C3?

I like the camber curve adjustment holes you've built into the setup. Nice looking unit.
Going to give up some corner handling though .....
I have had my car both IRS as stock,,and solid axle. Very little difference and that may be because i can shift weight distribution around the 4 corners of the car.
If I lost anything in the corners your gonna break into tears on the straight away when i drop the hammer

I have a solid axle in my C3 and although I'd love to disagree-in reality the IRS kicks *** vs a solid axle on a road course.
I would have stayed IRS if I could have afforded it but the solid axle set up was 1/2 what the Toms set up was at the time.
Idk what RT will list this set up for but I would imagine somewhere in the $8,000 range built to handle 8 second range HP. Safety loops will be extra.

Assuming you have more hp....
RT's 48 hour vette has nearly 650hp-isn't that what your motor made? Or close to it?
I like your car and I have the same rear but my money would be on the IRS car when it comes to the twisties.
