Default It Really Works

While at Carlisle last week, I came across a product called Block It at the TKO Performance display tent. We all know how many of our roads are not in the best condition and how load road noise can be. Block It is a multi layer foam pad which goes under the rear cargo mat. There are two additional pads which go behind the seats.

All I can say is the drive back to Florida was significantly better with Block It installed. It's not Cadillac quite, but the road noise it much less at highway speeds. Even at lower speeds while running exhaust in track mode, the exhaust sound was clearer and not as cluttered as before.

Does it install over or under the carpeting?

I actually find the convertible fairly quiet and wonder if it doesn't have some additional sound deadening that the coupe doesn't - when the top is up, of course.

When it's down the exhaust is a quadraphonic sound system!

The convertible shave that barrier in the trunk to protect the top when it is down, and an excellent side effect is that it also works as a great sound barrier. Huge difference between convertibles and coupes, with the convertibles being much quieter.

I forgot to include the following in my reply above............I bought that 'crazy cowboy' sound deadening kit and had that installed in my coupe. It dropped the interior noise down to the level of the convertible. I then also added the Block-it pad the OP alludes to, and I think that also helped..................just hard to be sure on the latter as the crazy cowboy kit (he is a Forum vendor) worked so well.

If I had to do it over again, I would have started with the Block-It pad to see if that sufficed, then if not, added the Crazy Cowboy kit. I only say this because I am not that handy, and if my memory serves me correctly, I think it cost me about $600 to have the kit installed by a reputable body shop. Results were well worth it though.

Awesome! Glad you're happy with the Blockit. Not bad for 60 seconds worth of work.

Great to meet you and then hear from you afterwards! We received calls from other who purchased the Blockit at the show and were also happy with their ride home.

We appreciate the kind words and the time you took to post them

I installed my block it kit from TKO.

Foam is thick and blends with the factory carpet. Installation took me less than 1 minute.

At first i didn't notice any difference but this might be for highway use.

On the highway, i could still hear tire noise but the exhaust sound was muffled a bit more. I keep my exhaust mode in track and i do have a borla catless xpipe so it is slightly louder than a stock Z. I noticed the exhaust track is muffled. I would say there's a reduction of 10% total noise.

I don't think a stock Z was ever noisy on the highway, but i would imagine really long trips i might be annoying to some.

I don't take my car on long trips. I just bought this kit because i figure the less tire noise the better, even though the tire noise from the start didn't bother me much.

It's still there though. It's ok.

So it goes over the carpet? I get that the rear hatch area goes over the carpet and then the Lloyds mat goes over the Blockit, but what about the pieces behind the seats? Over or under the carpet?

I'll take pics tomorrow. The block it foam kit literally goes over your existing carpet.

As far as the seats. I just moved the back section of the seat and slid the foam right behind it. I put my seat far back enough to where it actually stays in place. The foam is thick and the way i position my seats, the backing of the seat actually touches the foam so it stays in place.

This kit doesn't go under the carpet. I don't think it was designed that way.

If you want that type of installation, there's other stuff on the market that's most likely better, IMHO.

I bought the BlockIt as well from West Coast Corvette and then covered it with a Lloyds mat from AutoAnything. Both items on sale and free shipping. The noise is much less, but you still get a fair amount of road noise. I have a Camaro ZL1 and did the same and it is much quieter. I would still recommend the BlockIt for the Corvette as long as you cover it with another mat. With those two items it is over an inch in thickness.

Went for another long drive today.

Driving habits and settings unchanged. Exhaust still in track mode, i cruise in 5th gear unless i'm going 65+, then i'll shift into 6th. But all 5th gear cruising today.

I notice tire noise coming from under the seat and towards the firewall by the engine.

So maybe the block it kit does work as it suppressed whatever sound was coming from the rear, that now the sound i'm still hearing is underneath the seats and towards the firewall.

Oh well.

First, Thank you for your purchase. Much appreciated.
If you noticed your car getting a little more quiet after some time from the Blockit, that's not unusual. The reason for this is the pieces have all straightened out. Everything is lying flat and more flush. The foam has expanded back to its full shape. When we ship the Blockit its rolled. So the pieces take a few days to get back to there original shape.

You will notice the radio sounds a little better. Talking to a passenger and Bluetooth becomes a little easier too.
Yes the Blockit will help knock down noise from the rear (where most comes from) so now you might notice other noises coming from the front. But hang in there, we are going to me releasing some amazing new products both for sound and an actual heat shielding (if needed).

Yes, its designed to go over the carpet. That's the quick part of "Quick & Quiet".
The textured top actually looks nice however you can absolutely put a Lloyds mat on top of it.

The pieces that go behind the seat actually stand up in place even with out the seat touch them.
To show people who have never seen this kit, this is what the pieces behind the seat look like (installed). Once the seat is back into position, you can't see them...

West Coast, a fine distributor. Thank you for your purchase. You'd be surprised how well the Blockit works without another mat on top. However you can't beat the look of a Lloyds mat. So it sounds like you purchased our Camaro Blockit too... Thank you! Real glad to hear your happy with that as well!

I ordered the 3 piece set for my Z06 and yeah it really works. I noticed a significant reduction in road noise. The pads are pretty heavy (dense) which I'm sure contributes to the effectiveness at reducing noise.

Default Yes, getting quieter

As the company promised, the car is getting quieter or my hearing is getting worse. Noticeable difference and my wife and I can carry on a normal conversation. In the Camaro it is a big difference. The Camaro is very quiet and very glad I made the purchase for both cars.
