I am debating on getting the Oracle side markers and I was wondering if anyone had just try painting the OEM side markers and if an LED light bulb would do the trick.
Not cheap this Oracle side markers at $400.

Problem is you are going to get one bright spot with the stock marker even with an LED bulb change. I changed mine out only for the longer life. Did amber / red and they are not much brighter then an incandescent bulb.

I agree with you. But the LED bulbs are a little brighter if the markers are tinted. I put the red LEDs in the back markers also.

Just replacing the bulb with an LED bulb and painting will not disperse the light like the Oracle ones do. There is an LED strip in there. That's not to say that someone creative couldn't crack open the stock side marker and build something like that cheaper than Oracle.
I did replace my bulbs with LED. Not much brighter, just a different look.

You can buy oracle side markers that are clear and tint them or paint yourself. If I remember right they are around 200.00. I kept mine clear as my car is silver. Like them a lot.

I got mine painted for under $300 from Southwest Speed. They were a vendor here but I'm not sure if they still are. Have had them for a little over 2 years. VERY BRIGHT!
