The white Ferrari was a real Testarosa. The black convertible was a McBurnie Coachcraft Dayton Spyder based on a C3 frame.

You need to move to a different area of the state, you don't say where you are. I've owned two C5's, my present Z06 has 150k miles and several VW's and Audis. No rattles in anything!

I'm super excited about this build. I am planning on doing something similar once I get my shop built.

Do you have any more detail on the tear-down process to get the C5 where you are? How did you choose the two cars? I suspect that the wheelbase is the limiting factor.

My 50K 04Z has no rattles or noises to speak of. Bought it 3 years ago. If it had rattles I'd fix them one way or another. That'd drive me batty.

One of my favorite older classic style Bimmer bodies. Looks like a great project, can't wait to see how it turns out. Take care and good luck!

Two junk cars were just sitting there sise by side. They decided to get married. The wheel base is an inch out. The front wheel is centered in the well and the rear moves back. Major fender mods hide everything. The body comes off really easy and then you just cut both car and chassis 'till they fit.

We are going to 17" wheels to try and save the chrome strip but it doesn't look promising.

Project on hold because of long wait for BMW parts and custom BBS wheels.

The frame rail is cut in half and is mated to a new BMW sill. Initially, the mating will be bolted together to ease all other mods including engine, ducting, etc.

My guess is that those are "working" wheels/tires only. Something to have in place for fitment only to save the nice set for after fabrication.

These are the wheels and tires we will use. It's quite amazing how snug the Vette chassis fits. The BMW steering wheel will be 5" forward.
A full roll cage will be built. The rear valence will be cut and dropped to match the fender. All steel. Note the glass has not broken yet. Lots of work before it goes to the body shop. The front splitter will be a bolt on. Cool hey?

The stunt Testarossa was based on a Pantera, the close-up car was legit Ferrari.

As has been said, the black Daytona was a McBurnie kit on a C3.

Does your conversion on the E9 solve the major rust issues these cars are known for? I've spent my fair share of time on Bring a Trailer and whenever they pop up it seems like even the best E9s have hidden rust in the sills, etc.

This one will be a fun one to watch.

Yeah, lot's of rust but most of the bottom half of the body will be replaced. We have new door sills which will be modified to accept the side exhausts and form attach points to the Vette frame. Initially, they will be bolted together because the body will come off a thousand times before it is welded.
Lots of the original parts will be sold, engine and mechanicals, sub frames, trim etc.
Unfortunately, the perimeter chrome strip is for sale also, couldn't make it work.

I really like where this is heading. The M3 box flares are one of my favorite body lines, but this might be better. I dig it.

Gorgeous wheels, love the concept of what you're doing. They fit together surprisingly well.

Here's my take on how to make a European car more decent. Did all the work myself. Hope this isn't a thread jack!

Few more images. Final position of body to chassis. Tubes being bent for roll cage. Side pipes will fit inside side rails of C5 chassis. They were cut in half and the removed half will be formed to house the side exhaust which will be the final structural fabrication before permanent mating. . Engine mods will take it to near 600 HP N/A. Perfect driving position and great visability. The old dash will be installed but the gages will be modern. BMW 6.0 CSI, yeah

It’s amazing what a vision and a barrel of cash can produce. Looks like a very professional job. I’ve always loved that body when I would see one on the road.

This is fantastic work right here.

I love how you managed to hide the width difference with flares that look right on that car.
