Default Delivery pics- '17 Z06 and Vince Lombardi? Have in common? 470 miles with Mike Furman

~This week was full of surprises. Each day I say I can't get any busier...and I get proven wrong by the following day. "A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; An optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty."
Winston Churchill

~I sell more than just Corvettes so on top of the 400+ Corvettes(both new and used) I delivered this past year I delivered 150 other vehicles to my previous customers etc...This week was chocked full of Silverado's, Jeeps and used trucks with Corvettes sprinkled in. I also had the chance to meet a group of Avalon School kids that took a field trip to meet me at the dealership. We had Goodie bags for them and I believe their favorite part of the trip is when I started up a Z06 for them in Sport mode.

~Also took time on Friday (my supposed day off) to go to the Wash, DC Auto Show as GM asked me to attend for an award they had for me.

~Upon my return home from the Auto Show I received a call from GM saying they are sending me to the Daytona 500 Race Feb 23rd-27th. That is one race that I have never attended so I am looking forward to it. This will be a Chevrolet sponsored trip and I'm packing my bags now!

~Don C. From Cresskill, NJ called me three years ago and he was specific in what he was seeking. Unfortunately at the time he couldn't wait to order so he found his 2015 Corvette Z51 elsewhere.
He kept my info until this week when he reached out to me for a new 2017 Z06. I had just the right Corvette, Watkins Glen Gray with Black interior, Auto trans, 2LZ pkg and the Spectra Gray wheels.
I gave Don a sight un seen trade in appraisal and a deal was made over the phone within minutes. We fed ex'd the paperwork back and forth...Don has a really bad back and wasn't able to make the 4
hour drive South so I cleared my schedule for Saturday afternoon and drove his new 2017 Z06 to Exit 17(Vince Lombardi Service Station) off the New Jersey Turnpike, right next to the George Washington Bridge Exit that leads in to New York City. We swapped keys and I put my dealer plate on his 1,200 mile 2015 and Don and his son DJ drove off in to the sunset with 650 HP. 470 miles for me in two different Corvettes from Noon to 7:30pm. Well worth the trip as I am sure Don will be my customer for a lifetime...and maybe his 14 yr old son DJ as well. Don picked me up two slices of NJ Pizza for my trip home.

~Pedro M. From Olney, MD stopped by last week and picked out this Watkins Glen Gray and Red 2017 Z06 with 7spd manual! He left the dealership shifting the gears like a Pro.

~Stuart and Marilyn have been buying their family vehicles from me since 2000! This week they picked up a new Silverado LT.

~These three gents drove up from Southern Maryland in their three Stingrays and bought new Grand Sports from me Saturday morning. Picking them up this week. Pictures to follow.

~Mike M. stopped by with his Mother to see some new Corvettes...

~Larry J. from Livingston, Texas took Museum delivery this past month and sent me this picture from his driveway.

~John R, from Wheeling, West Virginia drove 4 hours to pick up his new Corvette Spice Edition from me and when he returned home he cleaned it up and sent these cool pics.

~Throwback pictures/ads etc etc...some you have to look hard for the Corvette in the photo...***Send a post and tell me which picture is your favorite. Have fun. Share this post with your fellow Corvette Enthusiasts...they will be glad you did!

**Have a great week everyone...Save the Wave.

What a great way to start my Sunday morning! Thanks for sharing the classic photos and the pictures of your happy customers with their new Corvette purchases.

By the way, a slice of that NY pizza would be very nice today.

Great pictures again Mike, and congrats. on the award!

There were a few of the throwback pictures that in my opinion were cool.......... the gold and red '63 coupes on the shoulder of the road is pretty neat to me, as the '63 SWC is one of the ultimate Corvettes ever to be produced...........then the Ed Rinke dealership pictures.......still in existence today, handed down through the years to the children to run and in the same location just a few miles from the GM Tech Center.

Pretty cool of you to drive the new sale and retrieve the trade-in too.........not many if any seem to go the extra step for customer service!

Have fun at Daytona, and looking forward to seeing those pictures too!

I liked the picture of the 61/62 with baby moons-never saw a vette with baby moons before. I loved baby moons back in the 60s with black rims.

Thanks for the pics!

Mike;
I love your retro photos. Just out of curiousity, where do you get these photos? Are they in your collection?

I like the photo of the guy spilling gas on the ground with the 1964 coupe looking at the girl in the yellow dress.

Only in Gaithersburg Maryland would 2015 C7 Corvettes be continually traded in for 2017's!

Washington DC hosts Trump 2 weeks ago, then D.C. hosts Furman last week!

Great long distance delivery story on the WGG ZO6. Must have been difficult eating that NY Pie with both hands on the steering wheel. Great that you could return to your familial roots, if just for a fleeting moment. Nice to relive the memories of your experiences there.

Really looking forward to the details and photos of your GM sponsored trip to experience the Daytona 500...... We will not be disappointed!

Great thread Mike. So many great retro pictures!

I see a '62 emblem on that Tiger Shark nose.

Thanks.

Although it saddens me to see old Corvettes with weeds growing around them, I am still glad that you share those photos.

By the way, what year is that blue C2 that you are leaning against in your garage? 1967? Big block? Four-speed? I love the rally wheels and the 'red stripe' tires.

Beautiful vintage car you have there, sir!

That NJ delivery story's great. Helps to not only be a "GM"er, but a GSM-er, too, to know all the paperwork that has to be signed. Two slices of pizza, eh?--you mean, you actually ATE in the car? Congrats on the award, too, from GM. Great pics, Mike.

Very hard to pick favorite pic, too many to choose from. Maybe the 3 '58s at the track, beautiful black '61, buncha racing and non-racing Vettes on red carpet indoors at a convention center, couple of the '59-'60s. And of course that first throw back pic of a very early model being Used and looking it.

First off Kudos for the achievement and recognition. If only Corvettes were counted, you'd be the #1 sales individual not just in the Washington DC metro area but across the country (and across the world actually).

"Best pic" ??? There are so many this week. All of them are best pics but will mull this over. Where else can you travel back in time on a weekly basis and go Sunday cruisin our past?

If you look closely, its a stretched version that never made it into production....see how long the door window is?
