The board itself is very easy to make unless you want something exotic/expensive. MS PowerPoint has provisions for making professional looking poster size signs. I did (3) different designs over 3 hours using graphics, etc found on the internet. When done to my liking I took to Office Depot and they printed it on foam board for $23.

My challenge has been finding or making a nice stand that won't blow over as I do outdoor shows. Being I go in my Vette it needs to be fairly small or able to be disasembled.....

I myself hate people with signs displayed by there car, if breeze blows by so does the sign, and pray it doesn't hit my car.
I see people that signs and the stand goes under the front tire, so it will not blow away for be stolen.

Michael, your going to need one the size of a billboard to describe everything youve done to that awesome Vette.
I usually just hang out by my car and start up conversations with everyone i can.
I know you were counting on me to give you another fantastic idea... so here goes...
When you make your sign include a QR code image ( that people can scan with their smart phone) thats linked to a cool you tube video of your car spooling up on the procharger. That way they can see it in action!!
Your welcome...

My stand is made out of pvc pipe, schedule 40 (thicker). Part of it is glued together, and part of it comes apart. It will actually lay flat in 3 pieces, takes about 1 minute to put back together. And if you are worried about the wind blowing it, you can put a weight on the back of it real easy. A sack of sand would be perfect. Cost about $4 plus a can of spray paint to paint it blue, like my car.

It seems the boards were all the rage a few years back, and that is when I made mine, but now I rarely see too many boards as to me, it just gets to be a hassle toting everything to every show, and yes the wind knocks them over continually. I am doing more indoor shows, where it might be cool to use again, but last week at World of Wheels there weren't even that many boards except on really high end customs. It seems to be a fade that has run it's course a bit, like the crying kids against the car or the drive-in serving trays.

Heres what I decided on, it was originally like brushed metal. I had it painted same color as car with pearl white on the sides, and I had the front plate chromed and added the led lights.

i used the same cord from my battery tender to power the lights.

I picked up a second set of factory hinges and sent them out to the plating company that I use. The struts I got on Ebay.

Last year I won best in show in my first car show at my marina. Not an especially competitive show but I did have the cleanest car there. I did not have a sign or display stand. This year I am going to laminate the window sticker I got from the NCM and display it on the windshield. My question is whether I should white out the MSRP or leave it as is? Will it help or hurt for folks to see that the car retailed for $124,000?

I don't think it will matter what the cost of the car was. The last show I entered, a local car show (not just Corvettes), there were several C6's, GS, mine was the only C6 Z06, and a 2015 Z06. The 2015 was way more money than what my car is worth or cost, but I won Best of Show. Its all about the car being clean, inside and out, anywhere you can see. I spent at least 20 hours cleaning my prior to the show.

Great, inexpensive idea

price doesn't typically matter...... if the show is judged for cleanliness then attention to the details matter.....

added comments above, but I would NOT remove the MSRP, it is your copy of the original window sticker and better left intact as received

Thanks, I would not white it out on the original copy but on a photocopy. My thought was not about getting "points" for the displaying the price but the opposite. Being perceived as a jerk for bragging.

I will display as original.

Having been to a few shows where some entrants show their window stickers--all kinds of cars, just not Corvettes--sometimes I read them and think, "Wow, it cost that much?" or "Wow, what a great car for the price!" or something similar; but my overall impression of the car is not impacted by the price. I was at a cars and coffee today with four very recent Ferraris, and while I don't about or recognize different models, I know they're all expensive. There were also a few "low end" performance cars, modded to/by their owners to their tastes and pocketbook. I liked a couple of them more than the Ferraris. So my point is, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone's taste is different. But to that point, I think a sign highlighting the car's features is generally helpful, especially to the general spectator who might not be as knowledgeable as the person who enters his/her car into a show or takes part in less formal "cars and coffees"-types of gatherings.

Another suggestion when displaying window stickers would be to: use a high-quality photocopy; but before making the copy, simply put a white paper mask over the column of itemized prices and total MSRP of the car. Then make your copy without showing any cost information. This way, there is no question of any judge being impacted by the price of the car.
