Default How long should I get out of my C7 remote battery? Also getting 3 beeps sometimes.

How long should I get out of my remote battery and sometimes I am getting 3 beeps ? The 3 beeps occur when I am in the car with the key fob on me when I shut it off. Does this have to do with the key fob battery being low. Actually my owners manual is tucked away for the winter so I know I should have read that first. My C7 was purchased in June of 2014. Thanks Dave

3 years on the fob battery, beyond that you are taking a chance.

Thanks now I just hope I don't brake the remote when taking it apart like I remember on my C6.

I've had one go dead six months after I brought my new truck home. I ask the service writer, and he said no one know how long they were on the shelf at the manufacturer before they were put to use. Made sense to me, so I've gotten into the habit of putting new ones in the FOBs right after I bring a new car home. My dearest even keeps a battery in her purse for "just in case."

Just got this info from 0wc6 which he posted on 2/1/2017 works like a charm and did not break my key fob by prying open like I did my C6 which was basically the same fob. Thanks again owc6 for the picture which I posted down below!

I had both fobs replaced within 6 months of delivery of my 9/13 built '14. They were continuing to transmit/search for a signal and began wearing out batteries in a few days. The replacements were fine until yesterday when I took it out of storage and neither fob worked. New batteries installed and everything is fine. For the minimal expense I'm going to replace batteries every Spring when I take the car out of hibernation, then I know I have batteries that should be trouble free for the season.

Careful Dave, he's a she, and Lisa's red headed to boot, don't want to get on the bad side of a red headed woman ya know.

Her story about her user name is that her son called her an "old woman" in a Corvette when she got her C6. So, O-W-C6. That's a brave boy, if I'd called my Mom an old woman I wouldn't be here today.

^^^ Funny how one little image makes the replacement of a battery in a C7 key fob so easy! Thanks to owc6 !

Most of you make it easy to help!

I would say that the beeps you are getting are because the fob battery is getting low, and the car doesn't "see" the fob when shutting off. When the fob battery is aging the "map" where it will recognize a fob being in the car shrinks.

Luckily I have a couple of other devices that use the CR2032 battery so I always have some spares and I keep one in the console just in case. When I replace one in another device I use the one from the console and replace it with a fresh one. That way it's always the newest of my "spares".
