Default Roadster door assembly questions

Well I tackled the drivers door window and vent window install and knocked it right out. (Thx to Frankie's awesome write up).

But there are two fastener issues that I can't figure out from the AIM.

One is the vent window assembly lower stud nut - does it use one of those crazy star washers? (See pic 1)

And there is a bolt that is smaller than a 1/4-20 that goes through the vent frame and into a threaded hole on the door.

i can't seem to find any reference to this bolt. Does anyone know what size that sucker is? Or a part number from one of the vendors?

six total. Doesn't seem like there is enough shaft for nut and washer. I'll give it a try.

aha. That's the stud kit I didn't buy because $27. I have all those parts except the lag bolt.

I'm finding out my car was missing a lot of little things when I first restored it.

Like all the window bumpers. And trans tunnel insulation. And a hundred different fasteners and details. The insidious part is that when you disassemble it the parts are not there so if you don't study the AIM carefully you won't know you need them.

Yes I have the AIM. I just can't tell a damn thing from it. It looks like a regular washer in the AIM.

Once you get in there, the doors aren't really that hard to assemble. I've been dreading it. Big thing is getting all the parts together. In my case, I had to get all the fasteners because almost none of mine were the right ones. But once I got everything together and the vent windows assembled, it wasn't bad at all.

I still need yet another set of little rubber bumpers. $2 worth of parts with $10 shipping. I guess I'll just have to buy more parts! Sigh.

Lower stud with nut doesn't get the large star washer. Just this:

I should not have referred to it as the lower stud. I've got that one figured out.

See the images in my OP. It's that other weird little stud that sticks through right under the regulator.

It seems to be designed to screw in until it seats. But that doesn't leave much thread. I'll mess with it today and see what's up.

Well I went to assemble the passenger side and what a PITA. I had it about 95% done and realized that the scissor mechanism was bent. (Which explains why that window was always wonky) I had to remove it and straighten it - which meant basically disassembling the door and starting over. Of course the screws for the mechanism were rust welded in place and had to be vice gripped out.

I straightened it, cleaned and lubed and it's ready to go back in. But that will be another day. I figured this second door would take about an hour. Took a whole day and made zero net progress.

That is your upper in/out adjustment, so it doesn't screw all the way in. Check the circled areas in the picture below. You will see in the upper one, a reference to .4".

The lower is 1.25".

Where they are actually measuring to isn't mentioned on that page, but I'm sure I've seen it somewhere.

You are aces!

Now I see why it was acting weird - it needs a little more space there. I'll work on it tomorrow. It kicked my *** today...
