My 65' Roadster (June 65) is being restored and I want to have the guy place the emblems on correctly. I am getting conflicting reports from web searches, Wilcox diagrams, and in the AIM.
Can someone please post the actual dimensions or measurements needed of the side, front and rear emblems please?

The side emblem location dimensions in the AIM's gets a little confusing for a few different reasons.
The location shown in the 63 AIM is not the same for 64. (with the exception of 64's with fuel injection as this dim is the same as 63) (and early 63 is different than late 63)
I think it changed again for 65 but I'm not sure. Need someone with a 65 AIM to varify.
And the dimension on the left fender is not the same as that of the right fender.

Do you remember in the survey we did on '63-'64, a considerable amount of variation, fore/aft, reported on emblem location on cars reputed to have the factory located holes?
And then there was the LWC that was way out of the bell curve on the right side.

In the Noland Adams corvette restoration book on Pg. 265 it shows a '65 diagram with the emblems OVER the center fender vent. On Pg. 254 it shows a picture of a new '65 with the emblems in FRONT of the center fender vent. My '65 has the emblems in front of the center fender vent like the picture. I think most I've seen are over the center vent.

My Nov. '64 car also has the "different" location of the fender emblems.
Per a survey conducted by an NCRS member, this emblem placement was common on early AOSmith bodies.
My '65 coupe built at the beginning of Nov. '64. D7 on the trim tag. But I Don't think it's a AO Smith. I'll check when I get home. I know it has the double letter in the paint code. Doesn't that means St Louis?

Ok I just checked. It has a S in the body and serial number. Looks like St Louis built.

I read that the early 1965 cars had the emblem a little more forward than the center louver. Later 1965 cars, such as mine, have them directly over the center louver. I believe this is in the NCRS judging guide. What I have been gathering, it looks like my side emblems should be directly over the center louver about an inch and a half up from the fender seem.
My early 65 (583) I can see had the emblems in the forward position originally, but at the prior paint job (86) had them centered over the vent like the aim shows. guessing the prior owner was told they were in the wrong place.
Years ago I participated in a survey conducted by NCRS members Mark Francois and Tony Stein. Purpose was to gather data on certain AOS body features observed on original cars, and which differed from St. Louis bodies.
One of the questions was about the side emblem placement, just as we have been discussing here.
Unfortunately, I never saw the survey results. Maybe one of the Forum members either has them or can access it through their NCRS membership. (mine has lapsed...)

Yes, I would be interested in that as well. My St. Louis (01566) Nov. built car has the forward emblems and extra holes below the emblems that have been filled.
I don't think it was f.i. and built too early for the 396. One of the previous owners may have had some different emblems on it? In the pictures you can see the placement of the cross flag emblems in the upper holes and in between the vents.
Lower holes have been filled in. Lower holes have been filled.
These were the measurements we pull off a documented original car.. But I'm sure there could be variances.
The nose emblem is hard to mess up, if you look under the upper surround panel there are two holes in the header so you can put the nuts in place. These two holes should pretty much be close to center.
The rear emblem is the tricky one, and it was the same from 63-65. I have a template here that I place on the rear of the car to drill these holes and it was made from the 1963 SWC we did that had 50k original miles on it.
