Any one know which of the multitude od GM 2 groove water pump pullies I would use to go from a 3 groove to a 2 groove? I don't have a smog pump, that extra unused groove just bothers me. It's for a 69 427 non a/c, non power steering engine.
This should actually become a sticky as it will save members a lot of money. Note to moderator...
Except for one important fact. I just tried to install the 3 groove boat pulley, and it has the large bolt pattern, my water pump, and more importantly my fan clutch has the small bolt pattern so I ended up slapping the single on over my double to get my air conditioning belt groove. You could however re drill the boat pulley to the smaller bolt pattern, but I opted not to do this.

Did some minor part number searches. There are at least three still available new from GM. their price ranges from $24-50. I'll need to determine which one. I'm thinking a 66-7 427 non a/c, non pwr stg, non a.i.r. application would do the trick. If I had any common sense, I would have looked at these cars when I was at Carlisle last week.

That's odd because I bought one and it bolted right up. I didn't have to drill anything. Maybe you have the wrong water pump.

I do have a water pump from a Autoparts store that is drilled for both patterns, but the 2 groove uses the smaller bolt pattern as does the original fan clutch, so I could have switched to the larger pattern for the 3 groove to work, but then my fan clutch wouldn't have worked.
