interesting that the build sheets still identify Black Rose as Edible Berry, even as the last of this color rolled off the line at Bowlimg Green and headed for Criswell Chevrolet. Very rare indeed, having a 2017 1 year color discontinued, yet having a handful of C7's painted this color for the beginning of the model year 2018.

great pic of James Garner doing a trophy lap with a babe.

it should be noted that you also pre-ordered into Criswell a bunch (30 plus?) of the J57 Brembo Carbon Ceramic brake optioned C7's about a year ago...... coincidentally just prior to Bowling Green announcing a $5k rebate on that option. Another call of a lifetime, topped only by you bringing in to your Criswell inventory the last 200 plus C6's at the very end of that generations languishing run. That strategy was to sell them at historically huge discounts in the following 100 days, thereby giving you an additional 200 plus allocations for the new generation C7 coming your way in a mere 120 days after the last end of production C6 hit the ground at Criswell. That was a huge roll of the dice, as that purchase was not only a model year end, it was also a generation end purchase as well...... that cost Criswell Chevrolet a check for close to $20,000,000 to GM.

Things that dreams and nightmares are made of...... depending on how the roll of the dice eventually end up.
It's not a gamble when you have history on your side. I've been thru 4 Generation changes (since C3) and knew what would happen.

All of them are great photos - but I really like the C3 with the "427" emblem on the hood. I assume that was a 1968 or 1969 car because the 1970 Corvette would probably have a 454 if it were ordered with a big-block.

The photo of the Corvettes with the rotting interior made me feel kind of sad.

Have a great Sunday!!

Oh, I forgot to mention the cool photo of the Silverado HD with police equipment added to it. I have no doubt that it will see a lot of hard use during its tenure. They are not that great for pursuits, but they are able to handle a lot of tactical gear, K9 equipment, bomb/explosive squad stuff, extra lighting and other cool items required by special units.

Many departments have switched from regular sedans (Charger, Taurus, Impala, etc.) to SUV or truck-based vehicles (Ram, Tahoe, Silverado, F-Series, Explorer) for patrol duty. GM, Ford and Chrysler all build "special service" vehicles outfitted for law enforcement duty.

I wonder if a police-spec Corvette would ever be built? Nah; just kidding. It would take too long for an officer to get in & out of it and there is no back seat for prisoners. LOL!

This is my favorite of your Sunday threads. Filled with so many great pictures it was difficult to choose just one. I picked this one:

Here is an interesting article on #250,000: http://www.corvette-mag.com/issues/1...9#.Wb7gd_mGPIU

Thanks Mike.

Default Ironic

That Criswell would outfit special services law enforcement vehicles, while at the same time selling annually hundreds of the fastest mass produced high performance vehicles known to man.

that is called getting both ends of the deal.

the K-9 in that truck will be riding in style!

I really like your posts, but they make me 'non-productive' for about 30 minutes.

Really like the edible berry color too. So much so that................

thanks Mike---great pics as always, saw that black rose with tan top Z06 on the Criswell site, very nice. Don't believe you'll be stuck with the other dozen or so you have avail with that color. Love all those old dealer photos and some real "field" finds in there too!!

Just my opinion, but Black Rose really makes the base wheels stand out.

That sorta brings back some memories of mine, I taught my first wife (and so far, only wife) to drive a stick in our 1965 365 HP coupe, back in the day. It took two men and a boy to push that clutch pedal in, back then. That car would pass anything but a gas station.....
