Anyone recognize what these old Chev valve covers are off?

Default Anyone recognize what these old Chev valve covers are off?

Off a 283 maybe ?

Yup, those were used on a few motors.

Can't tell if the bolt holes are staggered or not.

If so, 1955 to 1959 passenger cars.

If straight holes, 1960 and up to perhaps mid 1960s

I think they are straight holes with 2 wire clips along the top edge.

Possibly 1967 300hp base engine. The two clips would hold the temp sensor wire leading to the firewall. Dennis

Here is a pic of '67 base engine valve covers. The clips are spot welded to the left cover - hard to see but circled.

I'm pretty sure those are staggered holes just like my 56 265 has and early 283s.....you can just see the indentation on the lower left side, slightly to the inside as compared to the top hole, as well as the slightly flattened edge on the lower right from tightening it down.

maybe your right, l'll take a better look next time l am at that shop. They do remind me of some thing off an old' 50's truck.
