Default Used C7 Z06 Z07 package

Hello,
Quick question about buying a used 2015 C7 ZO6. I'm about to buy and asked to see the history report on car. It says the crankshaft was replaced under warranty. No other issues. Would this be a concern if you were purchasing this car? Have you heard of any issues on this motor. Thanks.

Interesting GM would have chosen to replace the crankshaft Vs replacing the engine. From a cost standpoint replacing the crankshaft involves a lot of the same labor as replacing the engine. Wonder if the PO wanted the engine fixed Vs replaced because they wanted the original engine in the car.

Over time there will be value in having the original engine in the car. If the engine runs fine and the oil pressure is good you should be OK. GM will still continue to warranty the engine for the remainder of the 5 year power train warranty. Depending when the car was put into service you could have 2 to 3 years of powertrain warranty remaining. If you don't plan on owning the car that long there isn't any risk. If the B2B warranty is still in effect then you could add the GMEPP plan and cover the car for another 7 years.

Thanks for that Bill. I am going to check on the extended warranty. the dealership said I can get another year B2B warranty for 500.00. If I can then in return get another 7 on the motor I will feel a lot better about the purchase. I found out today the car is originally from California. This dealership purchased it from the US. They are located in Quebec, Canada. The salesman asked the head mechanic at the dealership why this may have been changed, and his reply was it may have been changed because of a vibration issue. There is no other motor issues listed on the vehicle history report. The salesman also said the motor didn't have to be pulled to change the crankshaft. They can get to it under the car. Would it have to be removed to change the crankshaft?

Either pull the engine or remove the suspension. Front of car is on the right side of picture, Ignore the arrow.

Here is another "my Opinion and only my Opinion" response to question concerning reluctance to buy a Vette because of reading Forum comments.
1. I find most (90%) forum comments accurate, well intended, and helpful!
2. I am a recovering Engineer that is still too **** about almost everything- in fact I'm wearing one of my t shirts that says " Hang On let me over think this". For me I research way too much, but its what makes me happy!
3. I have owned 6 Covettes and 3 Mustangs. Different cars but if your a true car person then you like all cars (except Electric). I currently have a 2017 GS and 2020 Mustang GT. Do not bad mouth non-Corvettes
Now for the go or no go on buying a vette
1. Please do not buy a vette or any other recreational type car if you lay awake at night worrying about the cost of getting stuff fixed.
2. Do not buy a Vette if you intend to keep it in the garage safe and sound for the next owner. Drive it! (oh unless your saving it for me? )
3. As you have fun driving - share your good times, questions and bad experiences with the Corvette Cult on the forum- Please keep to the facts, title your posts so even a dumb retired engineer can understand what the topic is.
4. Do not Street Race!, let me repeat this DO NOT STREET RACE
5. Do neat stuff to your car and if you like what you did share the idea!
6. Report bad experiences with suppliers, shops, etc.. But also share good service from those you buy stuff or service from.
7. When or if you sell a car be honest about its condition. I have seen some pretty wierd comments about getting rid of a lemon?
8. Did I mention "DO NOT STREET RACE"!!!!
