This isn't a new thing for GM engineers. :-) I have pictures of the 2nd gen CTS-V's development in the UP of MI. Snowy rooster tails galore while the chassis guys were playing around with the then-new Pirelli snows.

With proper tires and enough ground clearance (ie: the road's been plowed or there isn't a lot of snow yet), the cars will go just fine. Obviously you can't drive them like you're on the race track on a dry, summer day. But they'll go.

He is track trained, is a very skillful driver. Comments about his putting it into the ditch, IMO, are just jealousy. We all would love to have his job, driving his Z06, now his ZR1 300+ days per year.
I mentioned ditch but it has nothing to do with jealousy. I think it has more to do with using a vette that is not yours and being afraid to wreck it. With or without the white stuff.

Well my '18 Z06 has been stored in my garage since November 4th and would not think of driving it through Rochester NY Winters. With that said, If GM was going to let me use a ZR1....I would drive it through the Winter! I am sure if Harlan was paying for the ZR1 it would be stored like mine! Besides, this ZR1 is a pre production car that was made for testing and evaluation. This car can not be sold and will continue to be used for testing or crushed.

Pre-production cars get crushed anyways don't they? No harm in subjecting it to harsh weather if its going to get crushed soon anyways.

Correct; IVERS (Integration Vehicle Engineering Release) are made with many parts not approved for production, and do get crushed.

There's no harm in subjecting it to "harsh weather" regardless. That is assuming you have A)the tires for it, B)the ground clearance (IOW the road has been plowed), and C)the skill for it. "Harsh weather" isn't going to hurt the car.

(Psst. It's a car!)

Aren't there pre production C6 ZR1s out in wild? I know a few have sold on here.

Well try going across Wyoming in the winter on I-80 and when you get where your going.
If your windshield is not cracked you can count plenty of chips and paint damage. All over the car.

The harsh weather didn't hurt the car but the semi's and other cars throwing gravel sure did. After all they are a summer car no matter
if you stick a set of snow tires on it is a compromise car in the snow which I wouldn't be caught dead in.
IMO they look like buffoons in the snow. But to each his own.
People do dumb stuff in general!

This guy feels the same way. if he can do it on three wheels, a ZR1 should be able to do it on all four.
