I am looking at installing a top tank expansion tank radiator in my 61 FI car. I'm putting in air-conditioning so i would prefer to not use the expansion tank mounted on the left or right side. Was the hood different for early 61 to allow for the top tank radiator or will the later 61 hood close over the top tank radiator.

Jerry, I dont see any difference between this 61 hood on the bottom when compared to the one on my 58

I don't really know. I was told a pre 61 hood would not work on the 61/62 which is a different problem than my question. I need to know if my late 61 hood will clear an early top tank radiator? my body is off the frame so i can't measure.

The hood you have should work just fine. 58-59 hoods won't work nor will the 1960 hoods installed on cars without the top-tank radiator.
