No, you could get M-20(wide ratio) or the M-21(close ratio) with the L-82. You could only get the M-20(or automatic) with the base engine L-48 though. Also, of course the automatic was available with L-82.
Thanks, wish it would've had automatic vs M20 vs M21 numbers. Would've been the icing on the cake!!!
From published data there were 9992 four speeds produced in 1975. Statistically 9992 was 26% of the total production so 366 (L82 Convertibles) times 26% gives you 95 convertibles with four speeds (actual results may vary). Regardless a L82 four speed 75 Convertible is rare.
I appreciate you sharing the letter as I have a 75 L82 four speed with AC, power windows, brakes, steering, BLUE EXTERIOR and OXBLOOD INTERIOR which I am sure makes this a very rare car. More rare than a 67 Big Block. Someday these will be recognized for their rarity.
A Blue 75 L82 Convertible, 4 speed, blue interior and low mileage sold at Mecum January auction in Kissimmee for $55K. Im sure a record price to date but it does show that these cars are being recognized.
Thanks for sharing the letters. Added to my collection of documentation.
I was wondering how many cars are now on your survey list? The list you sent me in 2001 shows 53 cars.
Ken, with the info I was recently sent in the last two days, I now have 84 cars in my survey. Hopefully I'll get some more from Forum members.
I stopped judging in 2008, got the Harley bug for 6 or so years and quit doing all the NCRS, Bloomington, Carlisle & such shows. I'll still do a few a year, just not like I was. I still try to get the '74 up to the Tues night Solon Commons Corvette nights when they have them a few times a summer providing the weather's decent.

I would love to see pics of your car, I have never seen that combo before.
