So I have watched the you tube videos on how to do this and thought I would try it. I am in track mode sport 1 and in drive on the first two videos and it bucks like a horse. I have the brake to the floor as hard as I can and I must be missing something. When I do the same thing (the third video) except in “m” it seems to work correctly. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
I go into track mode, I select sport 1, I leave it in "D". Press firmly on brake, Stap throttle quickly, Let of brake, and no spin take off. You will hear car gurgle as it decreases and reapplies power thru 1st gear, when it shifts to second you are no longer in launch control.
If you don't wait for the RPMs to stabilize it may "buck" on you as described. I have only tried it a few times but haven't had good luck using it, for getting a good time at least. Spins like crazy....fun though. :-)
Using launch control on an unprepped surface is great but turning off all the nannies and launching from an idle will net a quicker time if the tires will hook.
Fact.
My Z06 will 60 ft. with the launch control method in the 1.80-2.00 sec. range.
Launching from an idle with the nannies off nets a 1.58-1.63 60 ft.
Both examples are on a prepped surface within an hour of one another.

Thanks to all for the great advice. However I am still experiencing the bucking in when in "D" most of the time I attempt it. Three out of 4 attempts last night it bucked, the one time I got it to work was when I shut the car off and restarted it, it worked in "D" perfectly. In "M" it always works. I am going to take it in and let the service guys take a look at it. I hardly plan on using this feature, just want it to work just in case lol. I will advise what they say.
I know this an old thread but just in case anyone is looking for answers. I just got a 2018 Z06 and was having trouble, what found worked is go through the procedure, floor the brake, then blip the throttle let go then mash it. For some reason that seems to put it in launch mode every time. When I would just floor the break then mash the gas the car would just start bucking as described in the video.
