Default Need help getting GM part numbers for '14 roof latches/striker plates

Greetings, all!

My '14 C7 has rattles from both front corners of the roof. I went to the sticky and pulled up the OEM part numbers for the latches, pins, and striker plates, but they are apparently dead. My local GM dealership can get the parts, but only if I give them the part numbers, don't use big words, and pay through the nose. IOW, I want to find a supplier that I can get these parts from.

Anyone know what numbers to use and who to contact for them?

TIA, and have a good one,
Mike

Ron,

Thanks for the info; got the parts ordered this morning! With luck they'll stop the squeak!

Have a good one,
Mike

Default Good news!

Got the pins and striker plates swapped out yesterday: short version, she rattle no' mo'!

Longer version: I don't have a set of shop manuals (yes, I know I need to get a set), so my brother and I carefully started pulling trim pieces off. All of the fasteners were T15 torx screws. If I had to do it again I'd do it in this order:

#1: The rear view mirror needs to be removed. Turn it 90 degrees and it'll release
#2: Remove the sun visors. Small plastic cover and 3 screws each. The sun visors clips also have a small plastic cover that exposes 1 screw each.
#3: Carefully pull down the plastic trim. There are 2-3 spring clips on each side that have to release.

At this point the striker plates are exposed. 2 10mm bolts, and when replacing I put mine just a little bit lower on the driver's side than the original. The passenger's side was already as low as it would go, which might explain the original rattle, which was on the driver's side only.

Only note when putting everything back together was making sure the outer tip of the plastic trim gets put back underneath the weatherstripping; it takes a fair amount of manipulation and stretching.

Thanks again for all the help, and have a good one,
Mike

Took my 2017 GS on a 3 1/2 hour drive yesterday from PA to Maryland. It had 1255 miles on it when I left home. So basically new.
The freakin targa roof rattled on every stretch of less than perfect road, which was most of them. DAMN! This was really the first time I’d driven any distance with the roof on.
So is the fix outlined in this thread still the thing to do? I guess I can take it to the dealer as it’s still under warranty.
Just wondering if anything had changed with regard to fixing.

Go to the dealer. Your GS should have the updated hardware. BTW, we did almost 5k miles on a 2 week road trip and it never rattled! So I'm thinking you may have a different issue.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

Thanks Mike. Unbelievably I parked the car in MD for a day and just completed the drive back home a short time ago. The top didn’t rattle once the whole ride back. WTH? Lol. I took a different return route but hit some rough patches on the way. No rattles!

You probably know this but the rear hook can be tightened also to put more pressure on pulling the top tite

I started having these noises lately and knew about the white colored parts fix but didn't know about checking this. I will give it a try. Thanks for that info.

Forgot to mention on the rear latch there is a well hidden tiny set screw that has to be loosened to rotate the hook to tighten it up.
