Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40 is the correct oil, but Mobil recently announced that it's getting renamed to Mobil 1 Supercar 0W-40 which is likely the cause of it showing "out of stock." You'll need 8 qts (official capacity is 7.5 qts).

article: https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2022...il-1-supercar/

Where to buy:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobil-1-E...se-6/480225898
Amazon Amazon
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mob-123875
https://www.jegs.com/i/Mobil-1/652/1...bil+1+esp+0w40

Here are the correct oil filters:
  • ACDelco PF64
  • Mobil 1 M1-113A
  • Fram Ultra Synthetic XG12060
The Fram XG is my personal choice, but I've run all 3 and really can't go wrong with any of them.

A Chevrolet dealer can't get oil for a ... Chevrolet? That's bs, tell them to step up their game. Here it is on autozone for ten bucks: https://www.autozone.com/motor-oil-a...rt/1177215_0_0
As ^ said it's rebranding so the new packaging will be different

Yes, that is correct. Official capacity is stated at 7.5 qts so you'll need to purchase 8 if changing the filter at the same time (which I assume you are). Edited my post above to include capacity and filter requirements.

The type of oil is marked on the filler cap - 0W-40 Mobil 1. Should also be ESP version, although the filler cap doesn’t note that.

And, the quantity is listed in the Owner’s Manual - 7.5 QTs. After adding 7.5 QTs of oil, on a level surface, start engine, bring up to normal operating temperature, and while engine is running, check oil level on the dipstick. If dipstick level is low, add oil to bring into range.

^^^ I would add 6.5 to 7 quarts, bring it up to temperature and check the oil level while at idle, then top off. Sometimes draining the oil still leaves a 1/2 quart or more in the engine so if you added the recommended amount you would be over the top mark.

If anyone is in the Boston area and in a pinch I have a case. I have no problem sharing a quart if you need to top off and cannot find any.

If you really can't get 0W-40 Dexos 2 ESP oil, there is a track preparation guide floating around that says you can use 5W-30 Dexos 1, Gen 2 oil as long as you don't track your car. But the 0W-40 oil is preferred and I'd try to find it.

It appears the Mobil 1 0W-40 ESP only comes in a DEXOS approved version….

Approved for 2010 and later General Motors engines - Mobil 1 ESP Formula 0W-40 motor oil has the General Motors Service Fill dexos2™ approval…”

Here is an interesting story about why I ONLY use ACDelco PF64 that came with the C8 while within warranty.

My Plasma Cutting Business Manager had a Vette when I did. In fact he got me to join the Forum as he had used it to get info. Like many he would not post because he was not the type to deal with BS negative comments to his posts! We have far many more Silent Majority viewing Threads than we Vocal Minority who post!

I made my 1st How Too PDF on changing oil. In the pic I showed the Fram filter I had used. He came into my office and said didn't you see the post where a Vette owner had a Fram filter that failed and caused a problem with his engine? I had not, but checked and that was accurate. On the next oil change I switched to ACDelco and changed the pic in my PDF. Posted that pic and showed him I had changed! We both laughed.

C7 With Failed Filter
One of the car mags had an early C7 they were testing fail. GM reported back is was due to a failed ACDelco filter.

My Conclusion: Most filters IMO are probably fine. In fact for the 8.2 Liter engine in my Street Rod I use a special Fram low profile filer as it's the only one I found that would fit with my long tube Sanderson headers! BUT all filters can fail. Low probability BUT if an ACDelco fails GM will deal with the burned out engine on Warranty. I'm sure Fram will replace the failed filter with a NEW FILTER BUT NOR repair the engine! Just as easy to use what GM used, ACDelco!

If the engine oil is over filled, will the cars system tell you it's over full?
