My '67's ballast resistor is more than likely the factory original. It's supposed to be rated at 1.8 ohm but meters out at 2.3 ohm. Is this significant to any degree and (really basic question) how does higher ohm resistor affect coil performance and spark production characteristics in an engine's operating range?
No.
If you don't notice any engine stumble that you can trace directly to ignition, the higher resistance of your particular ballast resistor is not a problem.
Perhaps this post should be the last on this thread I started for the purpose of sharing information about an oft debated topic from a well seasoned EE. I had no idea the self-anointed resident ignition expert would find that a problem and attempt to prove his bona-fides by throwing shade on it. So I won't try that again. I suggest that those with ignition questions pose them by starting a fresh post as there are many here, not just one, who are eminently qualified to reply. This thread has outlived its usefulness.

We all enjoy helpful information that gets posted on this forum. It helps those who are not deeply familiar with these topics, and is interesting to others who are already familiar with the topic. But, if erroneous information is posted that can mislead fellow members or cause issues with their cars, I would hope that accuracy would rule the day, rather than letting errors propogate throughout the forum because somebody's feelings might get hurt if there are disagreements in a thread.
If I haven't already, I invite you to point out any technical errors in any of my posts. If I have made any errors, I invite correction. Similarly, I would hope that others would be open to discussions on any of their posts.
And again, I invite members to read the Ignition Physics sticky in C3 Tech.
