Can someone explain Price Protection and how it applies please?
I put my name on the list last September 2022, and they will reach my name this October for a 2023. Am i locked in at 2022 prices????
Depends on how your dealer handled it. MacMulkin placed their entire C8 waiting list on 1100 status before the price increase to price protect all their 2023 model year orders, but most other dealers did not.
Price protection NEVER crosses model years. Price protection applies to SRE (Retail Sold) orders in the system at 1100 or beyond when the price increase is announced (actual cutoff day is part of the announcements). Dealer stock orders are never price protected. Your dealer may or may not pass on the price protection to you. The window label will reflect the higher price. The major dealers reduce the price of the car by the amount of the increase so you pay the pre-increase price and pay any state sales taxes on the correct amount. Some dealers charge you the higher price and will then "refund" you the amount they get reimbursed from Chevrolet. This will not be the full amount of the increase and you pay sales taxes on the higher amount. Then there are dealers that won't give you anything.
If you are price protected does it only apply to the base price increase or does it also apply to the options added to the c8? With this latest increase of $2300 there were several options that increased as well. Didnt know if those were included of if they were are they also up to each dealer to pass it along to the consumer.

Base and options are price protected. Up to dealer to pass on to you. See my previous post.
