Is it possible to clean or remove the rubber AC drain elbow from under the vehicle? I cannot even see the rubber AC drain elbow from under the hood on my GS. Thanks.
drain tube is 27, and can get to it from bottom of car to see if it clogged.
As from top of engine back, circled in red, but have to play the blind fumble game to feel find it, remove it, and them put it back on since its tight if you are going in with the motor still in the car.
That drain hose is truly "buried" with tight access between the engine and firewall.
You should be able to see it from under the car (even from above as Dano shows) and be able to insert a long wire/ stick/ tube to clean it.
To remove the tube from the firewall may be possible, BUT, "big hands" replacing the tube back to the fire wall... well good luck.
Replacement of that tube, at least for me, seems "top ten" difficult, unless the engine is removed, then I'd say super easy.
* Unable to remove the AC drain elbow. No access room from under the hood or underneath the car.
* I used a stiff single solid strand 14 gauge electrical wire to snake my way up to the drain opening from underneath the jacked up car. I only stuck the wire in about an inch into the opening and water immediately started draining. I reamed out the entire opening with the electrical wire and never went deeper than 1” into the opening.
* My AC drain pipe exit opening is pointed, round and has about a 3/8 opening (see red arrow in pic). The drain is not crimped at the end as shown in the earlier post or on C5 vehicles.
* Seemed strange that a 2011 GS garage queen with only 13K miles had a clogged AC drain.
Its not a matter of a flush out king of thing, but more of a pull the hose so you can use as small wire type thing to push the solid debris out from the end back up to the top to get them out, if the tube is clogged isntead. Hence end has a small opening to keep larger bugs from being able to climb up into it to get into the box, so as larger debris do collect in the box from getting into if from the cabin vent sides that start to get pushed out with the collecting water, this is the kind of thing that clog up the tube.
On other areas that bugs and such can get in to from either side, like the crowling drain tube, GM did the Utter type slotted ends to allow larger derbies to be able to flow out of them so they do not clog up so fast isntead.
Easy fix, snip the udder end of the drain off where it will have full flow. Next use a bottle brush and clean out the drain and insert up into the evaporator box. I have done this on many C-5 and C6 Corvettes. Works every time.

Do not remove simply cut about 1/2" off the end.so the opening is as big as the tube. If you think it is hard to see wait till you try and put it back in!
