Default FUSIBLE LINK

Can anyone identify how many, the size and the exact location of all fusible links on a 69 Corvette? I tried to start the beast and after a few groans and quick hits of the ignition key, the beast quit responding.....no click, click, click, no lights, no nuthin'. Looks like I will be searching for a link tonight.

Had the same problem last month. The link that went in mine was close to the starter. I had to hotwire the car from starter to coil to get it to run. Sound like the same link went on yours.

In addition to the one in the starter circuit, there's one in the main power feed at the horn relay. It's on the drivers side inner fender. It'll kill the whole car except the courtesy lights.

Shannon - Courtesy lights are out, so it must not be the horn relay.
GDH - It could indeed be the starter link.

I thought there was one underneath the passenger area. ????

I will finally be able to address this weekend -

It would be nice to compile info on all fusible links, locations and sizes - even what they control. Any input is appreciated.

On the 1969 (and 1968) Corvette, there are 4 fusible links and 1 in-line fuse. They are as follows:

Fusible Links
14 ga Solenoid Battery Terminal [Located @ Starter]
16 ga Horn Relay [Located @ Drivers Side Inner Fender]
20 ga Voltage Regulator No.3 Terminal
20 ga Ammeter Circuit (both sides of meter)
In-Line Fuse
30 amp A/C High Speed Blower

Proper locations should be identified as well, I will attempt to supply later.

I may be wrong about the courtesy lights not being affected. When you see a big cloud of white smoke pouring out from under the hood as you crank the car, you tend to block out the minor details

Let us know what you find. Shannon

I had the same thing last month and it was a connector at the wire loom near the firewall on the drivers side (opposite the fuse box) Cleaned it up and I was G to G. Good way to check is to turn on the key and your lights and start to wiggle those wires....MAX

There are various types of replacement fusible links. They actually have ones with removable fuses. Can anyone comment on the use of these?

One replacement pigtail with the inline fuse, has 14 gauge wire and a 1 1/14" fuse. The other is about 16 or 18 gauge and has the newer flat style fuses. I think the 16/18 is inappropriate, but is the 14 w/a glass fuse appropriate?

Off hand, I am thinkning they would not be as durable. Thoughts appreciuated
