I have been using this. Meguiar's "Hot Rims Aluminum". This is extremely gentle. My wheels are brushed and clear powder coated, and I haven't noticed any issues at all from using this. Just make sure you get this exact blue-colored one, because Meguiar's offers a standard "Hot Rims" product that is colored pink, and it is more aggressive.

I get mine at Walmart. Sometimes they have it on a good sale.

Honestly, I would use it on my other cars. Dilute it as recommended, put it in a dedicated spray bottle, and just use it on my daily driver wheels and such. Maybe also use it for cleaning exhaust tips and similar metal parts that get dirty.

Yeah, that was pretty much straight acid. Glad the damage wasn't worse, or in a spot that is more easily noticeable!

I have use Ammo NYC brute and plum cleaners. He is a detailer that specializes in high end rides and designed this on his own. Good combo to get caked on brake dust off plus the plum to make sure you got it all.

AMMO products are very good, and very pricey. I just can't spend $20 on 16oz of wheel cleaner. I spent $18 on a whole gallon of P&S Brake Buster. Just my choice, of course!

If you like the AMMO Plum because it changes color as it removes the iron deposits,I highly recommend picking up a $4.95 23oz bottle of Eagle One just to try it out. At that crazy low price, why not? It turns purple as it breaks down the dust like the AMMO. You can also use it to remove iron spots from your paint, as it is pH-neutral.

FYRARMS, NEWS FLASH.................................

Ive now removed and cleaned ALL Four of my SIGNATURE SV701 Wheels from my 2012 Grand Sport

ONLY One Wheel has significant clear powder coat delamination 98% of which is ONLY
in center of DEEP Wheel Barrel and those small areas pictured above.

I have concluded it was caused by DOT3 Brake Fluid Weeping from one of two Bleeder Screws.......

Even though I "think" I used MEGUIARS D140 cleaner undiluted on all four wheels the ONLY
one with this damage is where I found the moist brake bleeder screw NOT tight...............

Doubt you'll change your comments....but honestly the MEG's 140 did not cause the damage

Interesting the Meguairs Rep didnt even really know his product or defend it well......

Still sorry to hear that the brake fluid hurt those gorgeous wheels! I don't recommend using any acid-based wheel cleaner on wheels that aren't very dirty. Especially very expensive wheels. Meg's D140 is very strong. The popular cleaner used for all but the most filthy wheels is the Meg's D143 "Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner". Since you bought the gallon of D140, I would dilute it drastically for continued use. Just my opinion, of course. I am not a pro detailer.

I plan to call MEGUAIRS and try to talk to a CHEMIST or someone that knows there
product line and get some facts on D140 that is labeled for CLEAR COAT wheels
I believe the dilution ratio is 4:1

Now I need education on Brake Fluid and Having at least One Wheel
Stripped,Cleaned and Re Powder Coated ?????

FYRARMS, If Meguiar's "Hot Rims Aluminum".is so gentle what's the point of using it vs
say mixing some DAWN Dishwash Liquid with Water.................

Is Meguiar's "Hot Rims Aluminum".only sold in small retail bottles or can I find it in larger morecost effective sizes

AUTOGEEK sells "Professional" Wheel cleaners to anybody but the MEGUAIRS rep wrote me the following

They wont even allow the NON Acidic D143.............

"Powdercoating and anodized coatings are a completely different process than clear coating. Unfortunately, you made a mistake in selecting the wrong wheel cleaner and not consulting with your wheel manufacturer for proper cleaning instructions for your specialized wheel.

We are not sending you the D143 (another professional product) as it is not safe for your wheels either. Again, I apologize for the experience. We are considering this matter closed.

No idea. I'm no chemist. All I know is I use the safest cleaner as possible. From the Meguiar's website:

"Hot Rims™ Aluminum Wheel Cleaner is the ultra-safe solution for cleaning uncoated aluminum. Guaranteed safe for uncoated and polished aluminum wheels as well as anodized and powder-coated wheel surfaces - it's even safe on all brake components."

Pretty sure just small bottles. I only use the Hot Rims Aluminum cleaner when I really have to. I usually just use normal car soap. So, I don't go through much of the Hot Rims cleaner. I will grab an extra bottle of it when I see it on sale at Walmart, and sometimes through Autogeek.

FYRARMS, Youve been dwelling on the WALMART/Reatil bottles of Meg's Blue and the EAGLE ONE Black and Plasti Coat Cleaner

Are you "OK" with the P&S Brake Buster ($20/Gal Auto Geek with Free Shipping as I usually buy enough)
on Powder Coated Wheels (Dilution Ratio ???)

I like to buy these Gals and xfer to my Good Spray Bottles

Thanks as always Chuck S Auburn,WA

I use undiluted P&S Brake Buster on my daily driver, but the wheels are painted aluminum. I am not a chemist, so I highly recommend contacting both P&S and Signature to ask what they recommend for cleaning your wheels. No point in guessing. Go right to the source.

SIGNATURE mfg in Taiwan by who I personally believe is BC Forged is NO Help at All in Wheel Care.......

IF youre using the P&S Brake Buster without harm on PAINTED Wheels, The P&S Surely couldnt hurt Powder Coated
Wheels................but I can/will try to locate a phone number for P&S and see IF they'll commit
to answering my question in print............

I still wouldn't assume. For example, I can use the Meguiar's D143 Non-Acid cleaner every time on my painted wheels, but Meguiar's told you it wasn't recommended for powdercoated or anodized wheels. What is good for one finish isn't always good for another.

Griots garage makes the wheel cleaner I use. safe for ceramic rotors. I do have to say I have almost no dust whatsoever and I have black wheels, but it does work well for myself. I would recommend getting better pads that stop better and create a lot less dust.. I know factory pads create an unbelievable amount of brake dust.

The best I've used is Adam's Wheel and Tire cleaner. It's one of the few that does a really excellent job on both the rubber tires and the wheels. It has some iron removal as well and does turn purple when in contact with it.
