I believe HD's discounts are at the discretion of each individual store, but Lowes is a company-wide edict. Anything I buy at Lowes is always discounted. HD in my area is only on certain days, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, etc.

Doesnt matter what the sign says, folks will park there anyway, just like they do the handicap spaces. Also, I worked for lowes at one time as their go to tool guy. They flat out told me I could no wer me Vietnam Vet Hat, period.10% off I think it ts, maybe less. Still, better in our pocket, than theirs.

Why do fellow vets need a specified parking spot?
I can understand if you have physical disabilities but that’s what handicap parking spots are for.

Did you mean they told you that you were not allowed to wear your Vietnam vet hat? Reason why?

Don't think they did it because anyone needs it. Lowe's decided to do it as a thank you to veterans.

BTW my disabled vet plates do not allow me to use a handicapped space.

I fail to understand why any veterans would feel the need to have a sign above their parking spot.
I’m assuming in your case your disability does not affect your mobility then.

Why do you keep saying need? Is your position that if someone offers you a courtesy you should turn it down?

And yes some days it does affect my ability to walk. Some days it doesn't hurt so much. Never asked a doctor to do the paperwork for a handicapped plate.

I did request DV plates as I meet the legal requirement and plate fees are waived on them.

I fail to see the point of your question? It's just a courtesy thing as a thank you not mandated and done by individual discretion.

That is ten, that's 10 % percent discount , on what ever!!!!!

Enjoy.....

To Lowes, thank you on behalf of all Veterans from all military branches...
10 % IS, 10% EVERYWHERE, simple as that...
Do the math.

I was not trying to offend. As a 10 year veteran myself I was genuinely interested in other vets opinions.
I just get annoyed at those that did a few years but have a million stickers on their car or feel the need to mention it every chance they get especially when those I’ve personally come across were just some pog who didn’t even do anything.
Depending on where you go-appreciation for veterans seems to vary. A lot of people may not even think for a minute what many have sacrificed.
Just my 2 cents..

No offense taken. I also didn't intend to offend you. I just didn't understand the perspective from which you were asking the question is all. Living in the peoples republic... I mean NJ... there are not a lot of people whom are too kind towards LEO and the military. Now the particular county I am in on the other hand is an outlier and actually normal and level headed compared to most of the state.

My grandfather was a marine, actually a gunnery sergeant to be specific. He never went around advertising it either. He was without a doubt one of those guys that you could just tell by looking at him though. And if that's wasn't enough the first time he spoke would confirm. One tough looking and sounding ****.
