2020 Corvette of the Year Finalist (track prepared)
C3 of Year Winner (track prepared) 2019
When I called around late last month, I could not find an open allocation to build what I wanted. All for the best, I moved onto something far less expensive, but probably would have ordered a new Long Beach Red ZTK car had I been given the opportunity.

I wish you could have found one. It would have been great to see one driven by someone with your skills.

You've clearly never driven a ZR1. It’s all around a better car than my Ferrari Portofino and 911 Turbo, at least for what I use it/them for. The ZR1 IS in the same class although the fit/finish is a tad lacking. Guess that’s ok for a car that’s HALF THE PRICE.
You class the FGT with Ferrari?! Really? That car is a joke and even Ford knows it. Why should anyone spend $500k on a car that does literally nothing well...

I like the idea of a nonsupercar beating the FGT at its own game at VIR last year. Heck, GM did it with an automatic transmission no less. Plus, the ZR-1 came within 5-sec of going under 7-min at the 'ring. What's been the Ford GTs record there?

The ZR1 is a "Supercar". That is true whether those who slobber over import sports cars like it or not. The ZR1 bitch slaps a bunch of these European snob mobiles at 1/2 to 1/3 the price. This is a very unpopular subject with the cork sniffing crowd and that's just tough crap for them.

What makes a super car “super” car is usually a lot more than what you think is a super car, such as :
- Carbon tub
- Active aero
- Sub 3000 lbs weight
- Hydraulic suspension
You should for example read about ICTB (individually controlled throttle body) with a dual intake plenum. Lets see corvette building an engine like that which revs to 9000 rpm making 755 hp. Anyone can slap a supercharger on a big v8. For you, you dont care how power comes and how it sounds. But thats not what many think and I would argue strongly against confusing “super car performance” with “supercar”.
People buying these cars buy them for the “wow” reason more than what you consider are important reasons.
You may or may not agree with this but no corvette is a super car. However corvette is a sports car that can compete with super cars costing 3 times at the performance level. It does not however compete with them on other areas because it lacks due to it being cost efficient.
We cant have our cake and eat it too. You cant have $140,000 and 755 hp and also weigh 3000 lbs and active aero. Something has to give and it does.
Stop comparing the car with other cars for what its not but rather accept it for what it is and it is good for.
I also dont think any 911 is super car besides 918 spyder. No version of 911 is super car.

Super car or not - I just picked mine up.
I thought my 2016 Z06 M7 was awesome - this ZR1 is hard to describe. The wow factor is there.
Only a couple things I like about the Z06 better: the price and the fuel economy.

Depends on your definition of what super car is. If all you care is lap and drag times then a modified minicooper running tons of boost with race suspension is also a super car at the 1/2 cost of ZR1.

People like you just find reasons to disqualify the ZR1. I don’t care, there’s a $100k+, 200+mph, sub 3sec 0-60, 755HP SUPERCAR in my garage that (in the right hands) can beat the fastest cars in the world around a track.
