Default Faster shifts for automatic on C-6

Read an article in one of my car magazines about faster upshifts for C-6 automatics in 2012 models. This info came from
Does anyone know if that will work on the 2008 and if so what changes are necessary?

The changes are both hardware and software and it will not be able to be retrofit to prior generation Corvettes. Well, at least the factory calibrations anyway. You may look in to having your car tuned by a local shop if you are looking for changes to the shift feel.

Should give Chuck a call. Corvettes of Westchester is what the "CoW" stands for by the way.

He has many, many happy customers of automatic vettes for whom he's improved the shift tuning.

Some questions.

1. Can the 2012 software be put into a 2011?
2. If the answer to (1) is yes, will the dealer do so?
3. Does your tune do what the 2012 tune does, and more, and makes the entire shifting process even faster?

The tuner will make it much better than the factory settings.

1 - No.
2 - Even if it could be retrofit, the dealer will not do it. The process of updating vehicle software if VIN dependant. They plug your car in, it reads the VIN and the available calibrations are listed for them to install. They don't have a library of software that they can choose from as an ala-cart install, it is strictly for updating factory software versions of what your car all ready has.

3 - I leave this for the tuners to answer.

Me thinks GM listened and learned from all the comments on this forum about what COW has done to their transmissions. I wonder if COW can do anything to improve the 2012 tranny. I am waiting for Chuck to come within a 2 to 4 hr drive from the Outer Banks of NC to have him do his magic on my 08 A6.

I just read this article. It says there are no mechanical differences between the 2011 and 2012 transmissions, so it's entirely software. Also, the second to last paragraph of the article says "Chevrolet has no plans at this time to offer Staged Upshifts as a performance retrofit to automatic '05-'11 C6's."

That to me says its doable, but GM is declining to retrofit at this time.

I'm not surprised because GM wants you to buy a new car to upgrade instead of flashing the computer. GM could probably make a bunch of money offering these type of upgrades.

thanks for all the replies. I'll follow up with chuck cow next week. My only concern is the warranty coverage, etc.

Any transmission tune will void the GM transmission warranty. If any tuner tells you otherwise, get a written guarantee from the tuner to cover any failure costs. Simply flashing back to a stock tune to get GM to pay for the repair is fraud, by both you and the tuner.

The transmissions are pretty tough with stock HP, but they do have limits when modding for more power. Probably 95% of the people who have a transmission tune will never drive their cars hard enough or own it long enough to break anything.

The transmissions are pretty tough (CORRECTION: practically UNBREAKABLE) with stock HP. Probably 95% of the people who have a transmission tune will never drive their cars hard enough or own it long enough to break anything.

Nuff said.

Chuck: can you do this tuning by sending files via email? Is this something that can be done remotely?

Yes... ABSOLUTELY that EASY! Using our AutoCal device.

And for the absolute best experience I would recommend our CoW BOOSTER! product which only requires a one

time pcm swap that's very easy to do at home.

Call me today if you want to get in on the tail and of our Valentines Day sale.....

I'm here all night tonight.

Chuck did the tranny on my 08 A6 and it is like driving a different car.Not sure if it would feel as good if it was stock though.
