Default Help! Car alarm/horn wont stop, can't shut off.

I was at the gym today and my alarm in my Z06 was going off continuously. There was no beep beep beep, it was just beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppppp forever. Strangly, while the car was idling, if I were to disengage the ebrake handle, it would shut it off, as soon as I engaged the ebrake handle, the alarm would sound again. The fob did nothing either way. When the car was not idling, the alarm was relentless and there was nothing I could do. I have the negative terminal on the battery disconnected for now, thats the only thing I could get to shut it off. Thanks for any help or ideas.

How old is your battery? This may be an early sign to replace it, my guess is that it will take care of the problem...

Default There is a reason ..................

Quit simple .............. Your car is reacting to the Bucks sucky season ........ 4-12 Yikes "The Buccaneers' defense was among the worst in the league in 2011. Tampa Bay allowed the most points in the league (494), the most yards per play (tied at 6.3), most yards per pass attempt (tied at 7.6), the most rushing yards (2,497) and the most rushing touchdowns (26). They also allowed the second most yards per attempt (5.0), the second most rushing first downs (135), the third most total yards (6,311) and fourth most total first downs (356) of all teams in 2011."

I can 100% tell you that MikeyTX is wrong. I am a falcon fan and if he were right my car would never shut up!

Agree that the battery would be where I would start.

I'm going to let it sit overnight. It's since stopped (battery has been connected for the last few hours). I cant comment on the Bucs, I'm a cheesehead!

The horn has a fuse (#2) in the box under the hood, however is is shared with "alternator sense", whatever that is.

Or you could pull the horn micro-relay (#34) in the same fuse box.

Sensor that detects any abnormal change in output from the alternator. It will trip a relay to prevent any voltage spike from wasting the computer systems in the car.

Can't you just unplug the horn?

Its stopped doing it oddly enough. I power-washed the engine bay with a light pressure washing earlier in the day. It seems to have been the culprit.

You're not the first I've read of having horn issues after getting things under the hood wet.

Power washers (also steam cleaners) force water into electrical connections. A garden hose is a better way to clean your engine bay because of the lower pressure.

Mines doing this after driving home in rain. It did it once before when I cleaned the engine bay. Not real happy being hornless :/

To revive a long dead thread, this crap still happens lol. I washed the engine bay out tonight on my ZR1, left it running while spraying. Drove across town, turned it off and back on. Drove it home... fast forward another hour or so and my car starts losing it's mind. Hopefully what ever is wet will be dry in the morning.
