Dont buy corsa

Dont buy corsa
Recently, I had to take my car to the muffler shop as my muffler was lose and rattling. Once on the rack, I could see where the pipe that goes into the muffler was cracked at the muffler and was pulling the end off the muffler itself. Since its Corsa and has a warranty, I called them.
This is what blew my mind:
The service manager stated that the exhaust on my car was a a "demo unit" and has no warranty on it. I had sent them a photo of the damage and the tips so he could decipher the model. The unit was purchased and installed by Bill Heard, who is now out of business, So I cant take it back to them. I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with this "manager" He offered me a cat-back system for $1080.00. Retail is about $1800.00. Why would I pay anything for a product that is under warranty? It makes no sense. They have a warranty and I qualify for it. I refused. His next statement was, "I will call you Monday to see what else I can do for you." Monday came and went. In fact, the whole week went by and no call. What a HORRIBLE way to take care of a customer.
I ask that you post this message in any and all car forums you belong to. I want corsa to see the power of the customer. My hope is that they see this and do something positive about it.

Wait, the shop doesn't want to fix it, and is trying to sell you another? You said you talked to Corsa, so what did they say? Or are you saying Corsa is trying to sell you another? I guess I am misunderstanding the story.

You say the Corsa on your car was bought and installed by somebody else. Was the warranty on that exhaust system transferred to your name when you bought it? Or did you just assume that it would be transferred when you bought the car?
I've had a good experience with Corsa and have seen them honor the warranties on systems that needed replacement on others' Corvettes.

If it's indeed a demo unit with no warranty then you're sol. If you have documentation stating that it's not a demo unit and documentation stating a warranty then I'd say you have a complaint. Which is it?

I dealt with the owner, Mr Browning, some time ago on my '02 and a warranty issue. They went so far beyond what was expected, that I will use Corsa for life. I hope you find the same resolve.

Sorry for your problems, however...
I've had my Corsa exhaust on my C5 for 11 years, never had a problem...
Awesome sound, no broken welds, no leaks, just maintenance free.
Maybe your installer didn't tell you the whole history of the exhaust he sold you...maybe he didn't do a very good install.
I'd try to contact the out of business (there's a clue) shop owner and find out where it came from.
Good luck...

What exactly is a demo muffler? Never heard of such a thing. Did they install it on a dozen cars to help owners decide whether they liked it or not and then take them off? Doubtful. Was it something that was displayed on a shelf? Was it installed on just 1 car for people to hear? Either way, these things aren't supposed to wear out.
It's an $1,800 muffler. Unless they can prove you crashed the car and caused the damage, they should stand behind the warranty unless there's more to this story.

My guess here is that you unfortunately dealt with a 3rd party company that gave you an inferior product when you thought you were getting something new.
This could by why that company is no longer in business.
While that is an unfortunate situation, it's not one that Corsa has an obligation to make good on. It sounds like they've offered you a pretty good deal on a new system. I would say given the situation, this is a fair compromise.

He called Corsa and Corsa told him the mufflers installed are "demo" and without warranty. Corsa offered a replacement for a thousand.

This thread is not going like the OP intended it to go. Too many of us satisfied Corsa customers and too fishy a story....

a demo product or unit is a demo--it means it should not have been sold---to anyone. if it has no warranty, what can you do? you got it from a dealer that is out of biz, and maybe for good reason since it did things like this to its customers.
corsa DID offer you a new system, if I read your post correctly, at about a 40% discount.
frankly, while I might not be happy either, it isn't corsa's fault that your dealer sold you a bum unit that shouldn't have been sold to you. corsa, imo, is not ripping you off or not standing behind their products. your dealer is ripping you off, and he/they went under.
those are the facts, as unhappy as it might make you.

Sounds to me that your issue is with Bill Heard. Do you have the receipt from Bill Heard stating it was a new system?
If so then email your proof of purchasing a new system from them.
If not then I guess you are SOL.
I purchased mine used and had no problem with it at all.
Good luck

sorry speed, but you wont get anywhere with this. Corsa has too good of a reputation. From what you have described, you are not entitled to any warranty coverage, sorry.
You should be running Bill Heard's name through the mud. Unfortunately, so many people already did, that they went under, as you said.
It's clearly been on your car for at least a couple of years now. Chalk it up to wear and tear and just pay the shop to weld it.

From what I have heard about the Bill Heard Chevrolet dealerships over the years, I wouldn't be surprized if they didn't sell you a demo that they most likely got for free from Corsa, that they were supposed to be using to sell Corsa exhaust.

I'm with the OP, who cares what it was, suck it up, offer a replacement muffler. Its not like they can't afford to do something for him with the huge markup on exhaust systems.
