So, how do you order a new Corvette?
Like many of you, I’ve wanted a ‘vette for as long as I can remember. My first ownership goal was attained when I was able to purchase a used C5 “way back when” – have purchased 2 used C5’s. Next goal was to purchase a new ‘vette - have been lucky enough to have been able to purchase 3 new C6’s now (all from dealer inventory). My next goal is to order a new C7 to my specs, and have it Museum delivered. How the heck do I do that, how do you order a new car? Can you guys point me to a link somewhere that can step me through the process?
Here are my basic questions:
Thanks in advance!
Here are my basic questions:
- Where do I start?
- Are there deposits?
- What are typical lead times?
- If I’m trading my current car, when does that happen, when I make the order, or when the order is complete and the new car is delivered?
- Any dealer considerations?
- Anything else I need to know?
Thanks in advance!

I'd simply contact one of the supporting dealers here on the forum, they'll walk you through it. Most of them are selling the new C7 at or slightly below MSRP. You'd need to place a deposit now, but you won't trade the other car in until the new one arrives.
Don't expect to see the car until the fall.

Here is an example of 1 forum dealer that will guide you through the process. Ask to speak with Mike directly:

During "normal" times you can go to any Chevy dealer and they will be able to show you what is involved. As the 2014 Vette starts a new generation, supply will be short for most of this year as GM is only letting 900 dealers sell Vettes for most of this year. And, demand is big at the beginning of a new generation sales year. If it were not a new generation, there would not be anything unusual about buying the car. Find one of the 900 dealers, on the forum or not, allowed to take orders and you will be on your way. Expect to put down a deposit, pay MSRP or slightly below and hope you see it by Christmas.

Marvin, Check your PM. Since you're local I sent you a local contact. He's good with vettes and they do have some open allocations for C7's.
Good luck

Purchased my '13 GS from Mike. A++ recommendation.
Interestingly enough, I look at the prices of that NJ dealer and their
current C6 inventory prices (their "take-it-or-leave-it" prices) are
basically very close to what I paid last year at Criswell (and that was
on a custom build, and Mike "pulling strings" at the NCM to get my
photo album after the cutoff date had passed).
I'll definitely be looking up Mike in a few years when I'm ready to
add a new C7 to the stable.
He has connections at the plant that other dealers lack.

"In honor of jpee"
frankly, if you can't figure it out by now (and I am not knocking you at all!), I would talk with someone you can trust. and I don't know where you are but local or far away, there are some you can trust. but only some, so pick wisely or we'll be reading about your bad experience several months from now as you start all over again trying to buy a C7. in just the last few months, we've already read of guys finding out their dealer had no allocation and "misled" them.
