I went to a shop in Miami with a friend of mine who is having his 65 tweaked for judging. The shop owner is Dave Walters and he is a well known Corvette guru in these parts, and he was also a NCRS judge. I have heard rumors over the years that he had a SUPPOSEDLY real 67 L88. Inside his shop was a GTO, 69 Camaro, and beautiful black 67 BB. Over in the corner was a white 67, with the black stinger hood up, grey centered mag wheels, and a Hurst shifter. I walked over to get a closer look, and no doubt about it, it's the real thing.........very cool. Dave said he bought the car in the seventies, I didn't have the nerve to ask him what he paid for it, and he didn't offer........here is an article that appeared in VETTE magazine.......http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vem...orvette_coupe/

This L88 was purchased from Curtis Chevrolet in Washington DC. This is the same dealership that my 1967 Corvette came from a few months earlier. Dealership is closed now.

This dealership had a well documented racing history/program during the 1960's.

Default My L-88 isn't real until I find the engine!!!!!

All of the stuff I have on my 1968, M40 tranny, HD mods here/parts here and their (J-56, HD u-joint caps, hd rearend, holes were the transitor module thing mounted, the hood, the etc. etc.). But it is just a 327 with drag race titanium retainers and single plane intakeand mods until some paperwork magically turns up, or the engine is found and then I would know for sure!!!!! Thus it is just an interesting small block car is where I stand with my own opinion on one of my own cars! But boy wouldn't it be nice if it ever proves out!!!! But the reality is that I have absolutely no way to ever prove it!

I am trying to get each car matched with the rear axles!

Thus have more work to do!

3.36
LeMans Racer (VIN #113787)- Dana Chevrolet; South Gate, CA.
One more to go- which I think is the Hussein car!

3.55 Axle
Judski Car (VIN #120407))- The infamous Code 43 car that I think was a Goodwin Chevrolet or O'Conner Chevrolet Car!!!!!
#92 Dana Racer (VIN #117527)- Dana Chevrolet; South Gate, CA.
One more to go- ?

3.70 Axle
Silver Convertible (VIN #115484)
Delorenzo Car (VIN #109097)- Hanley Dawson Chevrolet; MI
Two more to go-

4.11 Axle
Daytona Racer #89 (VIN #121550)
Maroon Conv. (VIN #118414)- Lyman Slack Chevrolet; Portland, OR
Goodwood Green Cpe (Affrica car-missing) VIN #?
Lyndale Blue Convertible (VIN #118426)- Dehaven Chevrolet; Fort Wayne, IN
Marina Blue Coupe (VIN #117076)- Bast Chevrolet; Seaforth, NY
One more to go!

4.56
Sunfire Coupe (VIN #119136)- S&K Chevrolet; Vallejo, CA.
Red on Red (VIN #115791)- Mike Savoie Chevrolet- Troy, MI
12 mile car (VIN #116945)- Alan Green Chevrolet; Seattle, WA
Black Coupe (VIN #122014)- Lang Chevrolet; Xenia, OH
White Coupe (VIN #117055)- Curtis Chevrolet; Washington DC

Plus the prototype (21st car) Goodwood Green VIN #194377-00-IT-EX. 702 Rathman Chevrolet, FL which was test with a few different axle ratios, and I should have this info as to what we should consider the official one, when Towers got ahold of it! ???

The Farris car claimed to be L-88, but might be a L-89 car had from my memory a 3.70 or 4.11 ??? VIN ???

I should have the DX racer car from Yenko Chevrolet, Cannonsburg, PA (VIN #112805) somewhere which would be the possible other 3.36 if that isn't the Hussein car. ??? But I think Yenko ordered it with 3.70.

Hussein car VIN #121558 factory shipped/delivered. Need to know for sure the axle! ???

The Silver Coupe VIN 110055 from Rosenthal Chevrolet, VA I think is a 4.11 car ???

VIN 110702 ??? Noland Adams is the one that documented this car? Is he still around??

I took one car off of my list! Won't say which, but because I can't find $hit on it! Well found info built in the 80's by Bob Rush as a clone down in Florida. Was a 390hp car!

Roger's Corvette near me in Maitland had two; recently sold one of them (red one IIRC). They are on the right in the picture - not the best shot admittedly

My mechanic, Steve LuVisi at Automotive Expertise has a real NCRS Top Flight '68 L-88. He has 55 gallon drums of race fuel sent to the shop so he can drive it.

This shows his L-88 at the Disney 50 years of Corvette. We had our '91 in the exhibit.

In the background of this photo sits a real survivor L88 with the original paint owned by the original owner. This car sounds so nice, hearing its lumpy, throaty idle, you just want to drive off with it. No, he is not interested in selling it, I asked:

The car in the background appears to be a '66. So probably not an original L88

Default I was going to say, for this thread

We would only be hearing from 20 Owner's and I have only seen about one present Owner of an L-88 on here participating on the forum and about two past Owners of a 1967 L-88 as members who participate within the threads. Thus it was a hopeless thread being on a C1/C2 forum (a pool of only potential 20 guys to talk to). Thus I threw up my story about the mystery 1968 to give your thread a little substance, but the car is a C3. I will never be able to verify it, so I can't claim that title (L-88),unless something turns up.

I do believe all VIN numbers for the 21 cars (1967) are verified. My math naturally is the 20 production and then the Green Prototype (21- like black jack!)
I just personally only have 19 of the 21. And I found the Vin for the missing wrecked Hussein car in the country of Jordan. Now we just need to find the carcass!
Thus I think Jordan would have Bedouins, but there probably is a Bedouin shack out in the desert with walls constructed of some fiberglass pieces and they probably have the Camels tied to the engine block, so they don't run away during a sand storm!!!

Okay Garrett, I have to ask! What is your opinion/preference of driving the 69 L-88 you raced versus the 63 Z06 you also race(d)?

My 69 is a modern tribute car that is a blast to hang on to but it must be something to drive a real L-88, Z06, or GS from the day!

Default Uhm!

I had contacted the Museum in Jordan years and years and a years ago, and for awhile when you searched my personal name, I came up linked to that inquiry about the L-88.

Unfortunately I don't know if guys looking for information would be as respectful in their lust to locate information and be disrespectful in their approach. I can't afford to buy such a car, so all I wanted was the VIN number which is innocent and purely just an enthusiast non-profit driven interest in a car! Thus I now have it to the best of what was shared as #121558! So it wasn't exactly sequential to the White #89 car, but a few VINs separate the two. Therefore I will put up the disclaimer that this is just information passed verbally and I have no records in hand to have proof on this. Therefore I also hope that #121558 is it! I hope that some 300hp car with full original paperwork doesn't pop up as #121558 on it. That would throw a curve ball at things!

I am a product of knowing and discussing Ferrari models, Porsche cars and Shelby's and such were they all have Registries and none of the Vin stuff is all cloak and dagger!

Thus if anyone goes on the quest for the Holy Quail (
#121558) do your own research first to make sure you are comfortable with your own endeavor!

PS the Guys that were in the legal battle over the White #89 car have apparently always had the Hussein VIN number all along! And that has been for the better part of the last 20 years. So I am not the only one holding that information.

Thus because I believe in published Vins, I might post up looking for my Car's engine just by chance on my 1968. Because I have the car, I have the Title, the DMV paperwork going back some time, I am better protected by sharing the number and someone that finds just an engine and then tries to fabricate a car up to match that VIN. Thus if the long shot of my original car being an L-88 is a possibility and someone got that engine and fabricated a car from those numbers, they would be in trouble with the California DMV since I have the car, if it was a real L-88.

It is like the claim about the James Dean 550 spider that he died driving! There were 3 cars claimed to be the rebuild of that wrecked famous car. One guy had the engine, one guy had some of the paperwork, and one guy claims to have the car getting it without the engine and paperwork. Thus there was a big lawsuit, because three cars came up with the same VIN. I never finished tracking what the outcome was, but I am sure the guy with the car won out!

All interesting.
SBR- I know you have been an enthusiast for years on the 1967 L-88's and other cars. I hope this helps you with your quest on that list. PS both the White L-89 and the Hussein car cannot be linked to Dealerships, because they were picked up at the factory.

I think I had all of the dealerships up at one point. I pulled most of that all down and off of the forum. I think I missed one (an older version of my picture chart up on Rex's Calif thread. But I had refined that picture and added a bunch more axle ratios and dealerships. I am still short on two cars, so SBR, if you would like to help me back on my list, I would appreciate it!

The way people are getting in contact, is they try to send me an email thru the forum link and my full PM block kicks it back as being undeliverable, but then I can see who sent the email and I if I so choose can respond back, so that is working for me at the moment! One day I will see if I can get the PM clear to take messages.

Thus when I get it at my home email, I will contact you back!

Thus I see presently 22 bounced back undeliverable messages PM or email that I am not going to receive. I see four or five from Atomic and 1 from you already Jack, the second will probably bounce.

I have to free up a Corvette Forum PM first for each of you, then shoot you an email with my good email where we can talk. Thus sending me anything is a waste of time.

Please no offers to pay me-- is my rule! I work full time, I don't offer any services, I am just an enthusiast that likes to kick it-some internet chatter with you guys! I am not Jesus or Moses who can turn water into wine or bread into ??? I forgot that one! Therefore I wish I was capable of turning your discoveries into an L-88! That would be a good super hero power to have!

I also set a six thread limit for myself to not reach saturation overload!

Thus I have my

L88 thread involvement!
the Frankenstein one!
the German guy coming to America!
The socal upholstery!
the 1964's are crappy car one!
and the Research the race car door one!

and the Cindy Crawford won't count! She is Cindy Crawford and I would make room on my schedule for her!
