That's the only way you can get it, but most people will never need the stuff in the Z51 package. Not only is it an expensive option, but it looks like it adds significantly to maintenance costs.
Will having the Z51 option make it easier to sell the car or significantly add to it's value down the road?

The same way a lot of old threads get accidentally resurrected. The "related threads" option. With it enabled, you get "related threads" displayed below the thread you actually went into. You may not realize that you scrolled past the end of your intended thread and are actually posting in one of these "related threads". I strongly recommend turning it off. Go to User CP, then Edit Options on the left side menu. Scroll to the "Thread Display Options" and find the section titled Related Threads. Select the Disable Related Threads radio button, then scroll to the bottom and click the Save Changes button.

I wanted all the performance goodies.

For me it was the revised transmission gearing (7-speed), the ELSD, and the availability of magnetic ride control. I doubt that I'll ever really take advantage of the extra cooling capability.
What extra maintenance?

Mag ride does so much for dampening out the ride on a car it is nearly impossible to think about not having it on the rutted and potholed roads of Michigan. I really don't want the Z-51 package but wanted Mag Ride enough to endure the stiffer springs and lower profile tires. I come from driving a long line of Cadillacs (STS, XLR and two CTS-V's) that had Mag Ride and it was such a difference in ride quality that passengers often would point out how "smooth" the ride was. I don't know if the ride was really smooth but rather just well controlled without the extra jostelling of a regular suspension.

I just wanted a fully optioned car. I like the magnetic ride and NPP but I will probably never have a need for dry sump. But that is OK.

Had MSRC on my 2006 C6. Liked it. I didn't want to go backwards technologically, so I ordered the Z51 to get the MSRC on my C7. Probably won't need a dry sump but the car handles amazingly well and looks great too. With the Z51 the car was a very big technological step up from my C6.
FYI, I drove my C6 some 95,000 miles and never had a problem with the MSRC. Definitely not a maintenance problem for me.

WelderGuy: Talking about the Z51 option "... Not only is it an expensive option, but it looks like it adds significantly to maintenance costs."
Sorry but I have to disagree about it being an expensive option. I think it's a real bargain for all the performance stuff you get.
It was such a bargain that it was on constraint most of the 2014 model year due to customer demand. It took 5 months for my wife to get her C7 convertible with Z51, carbon dash and NPP.
They even increased the price of the Z51 package for 2015 because they were almost giving it away.

Yea it makes no sense to buy the Z51 w/o the mag ride, I mean what is the intent of the Z51 by itself knowing the better setup is a check mark away on the option sheet.

I wanted MSRC, but I didn't mind paying for Z51 too as it was a lot of upgrades for $2800. I had a modded 2005 GTO, and after spending on the Magnacharger, transmission, brake, suspension, and exhaust upgrades on that car, I thought $2800 for what you got in Z51 was a smoking deal. No regrets.
