Consensus on C7 Corvette and cylinder deactivation?
So what is the verdict on C-7 so far?
Are more people with the C-7 having more problems with this new design and AFM system compared to the C-6 Corvette?

Haven't seen any issues with it, my hiway mileage reflects it must be working but I can't tell when it goes back and forth at all.

As a long time owner of a C6, I think LS Won's bona fides are in place. I don't see anything wrong in his asking the question of how owners, during the second model year of this generation Corvette, are feeling about the new tech of the C7.
And, altho it's fairly obvious that time in the way of 10 years has marched on since the first years of the C6 generation, as have prices, it is only his observation that prices have gone up, and not a diatribe against current C7 owners. Note: he didn't call out any one, or any one a name.

I like being able to go "Eco" in my M7. The system is seamless and the only way I can feel the switch is if I happen to have my hand on the shifter. No problems with it

just how much really do you save, 3 bucks, 5, 10? At the end of the day when I go to Kelowna (usually the furthest I drive, 850 kms), it's not worth the feeling I get when the cylinders reactivate with a bang, I'd rather pay the extra. I'm not too sure how the deactivation works but I don't think it helps the engine at all.

I'd have to say that LS WON has a history of questioning AFM:
Not to mention this thread that he started:

AFM seems to work just great for me. I never notice when it switches from 8 cylinder to 4 cylinder and back. Is the improvement in fuel mileage justified by the additional complexity? Apparently GM thinks so and they have more data on the matter than I do.

It works as intended for me and is probably the saving grace for not having a gas guzzler tax on the Corvette. The good mileage when I want to have it while maintaining the ability for the high performance the engine is capable of is a definite advantage for this car.
But why do we have to have all of these threads about AFM?

Sucks IMO! Not that sure about many issues but the 4-8-4 transitions don't sound or feel good. I get it, the gov't overlords and CAFE standard BS forces them to strive for higher MPG, but keep if you ask me, produce more battery powered upside-down whistles and leave the sports cars alone.

I thought you were abandoning the C7 over a paralyzing fear of engine failure?

My C6 Z06 does not have the AFM and did not have a gas guzzler tax imposed on it. It has a EPA rating of 15/24, far below the fuel mileage that a C7 would get without AFM. The base C6 is rated at 16/26 and the base C7 is rated at 17/29. A large part of that 29 mpg on the highway was accomplished with the additional 7th gear overdrive on the C7, the DI and the VVT.
Cliff note: elimination of the AFM on the C7 would not cause the C7 to drop into gas guzzler territory(less than 22.5 MPG).
